STREETS OF GOTHAM CITY

05:00 PM

Robin's POV:

Just when I thought things couldn't get any worse after the Joker shot me in the shoulder, I ended up doing something I never thought I would.

We caught him. Me and Bruce. We actually caught the Joker, and now he's locked up in Arkham where he belongs.

For me, it was just another mission. But for Bruce? He was scared... really scared.

He's worried I'd get into more trouble, especially after that bullet almost took me out.  I was only trying to help but it seemed to have made things worse.

Bruce was scared. The Batman was scared. But I wasn't. After everything the Joker did. To Barbara, to me, Bruce wants me to stop being Robin.

He thinks it's too dangerous for someone like me, a fifteen-year-old, to be out in Gotham, sneaking through the shadows and beating up criminals... as if it wasn't his idea to make me his sidekick in the first place.

After my parents died, there was this darkness inside me, and Bruce tried to turn it into something better.

But he saw too much of himself in me, and that's what scared him the most. And that's how the Dynamic Duo split.

Guess you could say no more Batman and Robin.

I didn't even get to try the new suit Lucius made for me. Batman demanded I leave the suit. But I've still got my old one.

What? You think I'm just gonna stop being Robin because he told me to?

No way. This is a new beginning for me. I'm going to find a city that needs justice, where I can prove who I am outside of Bruce's shadow.

I'm going to be something more. Better than Batman.

I'm leaving Gotham. There's a city a few miles away called Jump City. Doesn't seem as rough as Gotham, but it's not exactly paradise either.

I got into my red Dodge Challenger, the one Bruce gave me when he adopted me five years ago.

I set the GPS, put on some music by The Weeknd, and started the three-hour drive to Jump City.

JUMP CITY

8:00 PM

Jump City looks pretty cool under the night sky with all its neon lights.

I crossed the bridge into the city and started looking for a motel to crash in for the night.

The GPS directed me to turn left, and just as I did, I heard a loud crash from the back of my car.

I stopped the The Weeknd songs which were on repeat and hit the brakes. I got out to find a huge dent on the hood, covered in broken bricks.

I looked toward where the brick might have come from and saw a short girl hiding in the shadows.

"Hey, girl, I think you missed your aim!" I yelled across the lane.

I thought my first night in Jump City would be quiet, but if this is how they roll, I'm in for something else.
