Raven's POV:

Jump City. How did I end up here? Long story short, everything went completely wrong back in Detroit.

It all started on this stupid school trip to some ancient museum. I didn't even wanna go. But here I was, staring at this old glowing artifact, and it just triggered something. My powers started acting up, the kind of bad acting up. You know those moments where you feel like everyone's staring at you? Well, this time they actually were.

Some were scared. Some weren't. And then some? They were just jerks. Whispering, calling me a freak... "Witch." That's when I lost it.

I didn't mean to, though. Really. But when my powers flare up, it's like... I can't control it. Next thing I know, stuff's flying around, people are screaming, and I'm the center of attention. Yeah...Awesome, right?

I had to get out of there. Fast.

And that's how I found myself in Jump City. Walking around with no food, no place to go, and my head pounding like someone was playing drums in my brain. I wasn't exactly thinking straight when I wandered into this sketchy part of town, but of course, that's when the trouble starts.

A group of guys spotted me, and I could just tell they weren't planning on saying "hi." One of them stepped forward, too close for comfort. My palms started glowing a little, and I thought, not again. I couldn't lose control, not this time.

So what did I do? I grabbed the nearest thing, a brick, and threw it.

Not at them though. I mean, come on, I wasn't trying to kill anyone. I just needed to get their attention somewhere else.

And, uh, yeah. It landed right on this fancy red car. The kind of car someone would definitely be mad about.

The guy inside slammed on the brakes and jumped out. The way he moved, I could tell, this wasn't just some regular guy.

"Hey, girl, I think you missed your aim," he shouted over, sounding more annoyed than mad.

"HELP ME!" I yelled.

The gang turned to him, and for a second, I thought I could slip away quietly. Nope. I stayed and watched.

At that moment, he leaped across the hood of his car and emerged out of the shadows. He took them all down like it was nothing. Honestly, I was impressed.

After he finished, he turned back to me. I expected him to yell at me or something for hitting his car. But instead, he just asked, "You alright?"

I nodded, not really trusting myself to speak.

"What are you doing out here? "

"I have nowhere to be. "

"Where are your parents? "

"They died... "

"I'm sorry. " The moment I lied about my parents' death, he seemed to have a sense of empathy wash over him, like I could just feel it. I could sense, guilt, regret, anger and grief.

"Where are yours? " I asked him.

"That's of no importance. Now, I'm taking you to the nearest police department. They will take you to some orphanage soon enough. "

"I am NOT going to an orphanage. I need... I need help. " I stammered.

I had this feeling that this guy could possibly save and help me from whatever that's happening with me.

What happened at the museum and what almost happened now with the thugs.

"What kind of help? "

"There's darkness in me, I don't know what's happening to me. I can't control it, every time I try to do something it only makes things worse. You have to help me. I know you can. "

The guy kept looking at me in a tense manner.

"Who are you? " He asked at last.

"Raven... " I sighed.

"You're named after a bird? " He said with a weird face.

"My real name's Rachel Roth. It's kind of an alias at the point. "

"Fair enough, Rachel. "

"Raven." I corrected him.

"Raven." He repeated.

He looked at me for a few seconds and pointed to me to follow him in his car.

"We'll talk it over dinner. What do you wanna eat? " He said as he fastened the seatbelt.

Look, this guy, Robin, I figured he was my best shot at staying safe. So, I went with him. I just sense this feeling of familiarity and protection with him
