Prapai: Eating Khao Pad :)

Prapai: But alone :((

Sky: Here sending some people to your company 👫

Prapai: :( I need someone whose name starts with S, ends with Y and has three letters in it.

Sky: 😳😳

Prapai: ;-)

Sky chuckled at the message. He wasn't sure whether this was the kind of conversation people in their late twenties should have.

At the very moment, his mother called him from the kitchen, asking him to bring the bowl having the leftover dish. They already had their dinner much time ago. After it Sky ordered some dessert from outside, they had the sweet and talked for a while. The talk actually went out much better than Sky had expected. They both shared the things happening in their life and the more they talked, the more Sky realised how much of each other's life they were missing all this time.

Sky told her about his work, how it went everyday. His mom of course asked about the accident and Sky told her that he was with a friend that night, keeping the part where he was drunk with himself only. He also told her about his future plans which mostly included him thinking about changing apartments. Not that this one wasn't comfortable enough but he was actually tired of all the travelling that he had to go through to reach his workplace almost everyday. His mother listened attentively to all his thoughts, dropping her suggestions in between. At the end it was her, smiling at Sky wondering when her little baby boy turned so big and responsible.

Despite Sky's persistence, his mother decided to wash the dishes but only after promising that she would let him wash the next time.

Sky was in the hall when he received a text from Prapai, who sent him a photograph of his dinner. As his mother called him, he looked at the bowl of remaining food kept on the dining table.

He smiled at it and clicked a few pictures of the food before taking it to the kitchen and keeping it in the fridge.

He closed the refrigerator door and leaned against the shelf, returning back to his phone.

Sky sent the pictures, his mother was only left with a few dishes by then. Prapai immediately saw the message and he was quick to reply.

Prapai: Woah! That looks cool.

Sky: My mum cooked it for me ;-)

Prapai: Of course! She must be great at cooking.

Prapai: Unlike someone else in her family👽

Sky: 😒😒

Prapai: Wanna meet her someday. Gonna ask her if you were like this since childhood only.

Sky: like what?🤨

Prapai: Like a kitten😽 cute and fierce!

Sky grinned from ear to ear as he read the text, his cheeks flushed with a rosy hue. His mother seemed to notice it too and asked him suspiciously, "What are you smiling so wide at huh?" She said, her gaze shifting to the phone in his hand.

Sky quickly put his phone aside and said, "What smile?"

His mother smiled slyly, keeping one hand on her hips, she gave him an expression that stated that she well knew all his tricks.

"Well do you already have a girlfriend that you are hiding from us huh?" She wriggled her brows while asking the question which Sky winced at.

"Mae I don't have any girlfriend, I was just.. just reading a romantic novel." He said, now in a very serious tone, the earlier hint of redness on his cheeks all gone.

The older woman just pouted a little, turning around, she got back to the cleaning. "I wish you had one." The words that uttered from her mouth was barely audible yet it managed to reach Sky's ears, making him a little sad. But the next sound that his phone made was enough to lift his mood up. The adventure of not letting his mother know about Prapai gave him a kind of adrenaline pump and excitement that had been missing from his life since years.

All these years, Sky got so habitual of his routine and lone life that not being in that routine and staying at home for a few days also felt weird to him.

Sky as secretly as he could, slid the phone into his pocket and went on to help his mother in cleaning the kitchen.

It didn't take much time for them to complete the cleaning and they were soon back to Sky's bedroom. It had been enough time since his concussion that Sky was no longer experiencing severe headaches but he still felt sleepy all day like he did earlier.

So he positioned the towel over his shoulder, took the clothes and went to have a quick shower. He brushed his teeth and came out with a towel in his hand, drying his wet hair.

Sky followed his bedtime routine, which included almost very little. He saw his mother, sitting on the bed. She had herself buried in a book with her reading glasses on.

She gave no reaction when Sky came out after showering but when he jumped on the bed, she got startled and finally looked up from her book.

Sky moved and placed his head in her lap. She kept the book aside, giving him some space to be comfortable. Sky closed his eyes, his legs barely fitting inside the bed due to the position he was lying in. She removed her glasses and kept both the things on the bedside table.

He soon felt a hand gliding through his still somewhat wet hair, which then stopped at his forehead. Her hand gently brushed his forehead.

The action brought a smile over the faces of both the people in the room. Sky leaned into the touch, finally enjoying the comfort of it after so many years.

After some time it was slumber taking over him and before he could completely fall asleep, he removed his head from her lap and moved to his actual position on the bed, not wanting her legs to be in pain.

He opened his eyes once, and saw his mother with her reading glasses on again, book in her one hand and the other still stroking Sky's head. The bedside lamp produced a soft glow, illuminating the area just enough for her to read the book and also for Sky to also fall asleep without getting disturbed by it.

Sky closed his eyes and it didn't take him long to fall asleep, releasing soft snores which planted a smile of satisfaction on his mother's face.

She kept the book aside again, tired from the traveling she had to do today. She checked her phone for the last time before she went to sleep.

There were a few notifications on it, some emails from work which she decided to reply to later. One message among the all caught her eye which she opened and replied,

Yes he is fine. I haven't talked to him about it yet. Will do it tomorrow probably...

The reply to her message came only a minute later.

Ok but make sure you do that soon, I have already talked to them.

She read the message after which she kept her phone away and lay down on the bed, facing Sky.

She brushed a strand of hair from his face and fell asleep looking at the peaceful expressions of his asleep son.
