Jungkook's POV

It was early morning, and I had already taken my medicine, still feeling the chill in my bones. I was leaning against the kitchen counter, the taste of the pills lingering in my mouth when I heard Taehyung yawning behind me.

"Why are you up so early?... I woke up and didn't find you near me," he said, his voice groggy with sleep.

I turned to look at him, the familiar face that used to bring me so much comfort now only reminding me of how distant we had become. Without responding immediately, I turned back, took the medicine, and replied, "I just got used to getting up early... I'm not going to make breakfast. You can go out or order something."

Taehyung leaned against the wall, concern etched on his face.

"You're feeling unwell?" he asked.

I forced a sad smile, trying to mask the weariness that had settled in my soul. "No, I just caught a cold," I lied, then quickly changed the subject.

"You're not going to work today?"

He shook his head. "No, I'm going to be here with you."

A small part of me felt a twinge of something-was it relief? Gratitude? But I quickly pushed it aside as I picked up the glass from the side table, moved to the sink, and started washing it.

"If that's so, then let me make something for you. How about ramen?"

"Sounds good," he said with a smile, one I used to live for.

Taehyung walked into the living room while I continued in the kitchen. I heard his footsteps pause, and when I looked over, he was staring at the orchid on the table. A realization seemed to dawn on him as he came back into the kitchen.

"You're raising flowers?" he asked, almost in disbelief. "

I thought you didn't like wasting your time tending to flowers?"

I turned to him, meeting his gaze for just a moment before returning to my task.

"People change."

I muttered softly, but the words felt heavier than they should have.

I turned back to the stove, focusing on the ramen, trying to push away the heaviness that lingered between us. As I stirred the pot, Taehyung spoke again, his voice carrying a hint of curiosity and something darker.

"You bought it?" he asked, referring to the orchid.

Without turning around, I replied, "My friend gave that to me." My voice was steady, but inside, I could feel something unraveling.
