Rosy paced nervously, her heart pounding heavily in her chest. She kept glancing at the clock, anxiety tightening its grip with every passing second. Dusk was approaching, and Vehan still hadn’t come home. A wave of dread surged through her.

She reached for her phone and dialed his number, but again and again, the automated voice responded coldly, “The number you are trying to reach is currently unavailable.”

Rosy: ho kaha pe aap vehan, please aajao darao maat mujhe ase
(Where are you, please come back don't scare me)

Suddenly, her phone buzzed with an incoming call from an unfamiliar number. Her hands trembled as she answered without hesitation.

Rosy: “Hello? Who is this?”

Nurse: “I’m calling from TLT Hospital. A man was brought in after a severe accident. He’s currently in the ICU. While unconscious, he kept murmuring one name Ruh... and Rosy. We found your contact information on his phone and felt it was urgent to reach out. Unfortunately, the device was badly damaged, so we couldn’t call directly from it.”

The phone slipped from Rosy’s grasp and crashed to the floor. Her legs gave way beneath her as a crushing weight of disbelief pressed down on her. It felt as though her entire world had shattered in an instant. Her limbs turned cold, her body paralyzed by shock, and tears streamed endlessly down her cheeks like a relentless storm.

Zohan and Zarin were already at the hospital they had arrived shortly after the accident because Zohan had been with Vehan when it happened. His eyes were bloodshot from relentless crying, and Zarin was doing her best to console him, though her own eyes shimmered with unshed tears, betraying her calm exterior.

Just then, Rosy stormed into the hospital corridor, breathless and frantic. The moment Zohan and Zarin saw her, a wave of distress overtook them the panic in her face mirrored their own dread.

Rosy: “Where is Vehan? Someone tell me what happened to him!”

Zarin immediately rushed to embrace her, holding her tightly as her own voice faltered with emotion.

Zarin: “Rosy…”

Rosy (pulling away, nearly shouting): “No—don’t hold me! Just tell me where he is! Where is my Vehan?”

Zohan, unable to contain himself, broke down completely upon witnessing Rosy’s devastated state. Tears rolled down his cheeks as he looked away, clenching his fists in helpless sorrow.

Moments later, the doors to the ICU creaked open, and a doctor emerged. His face was tight with seriousness, his expression unreadable, yet heavy with implication.

Doctor (in a grave tone): “Who among you is a family member of Vehan Khan?”

Rosy (stepping forward, her voice trembling): “I—I’m Mrs. Khan, his wife. Please, Doctor, tell me what happened. Is he okay? Just say something please.

Her voice cracked under the weight of desperation, her words spilling out between sobs. Zarin gently pulled Rosy back, trying to steady her as her cries grew louder and more painful, echoing through the cold hallway.

Doctor: usko ser pe gheri chot Laga, hum log usko shift Kiya par,
(He got injured bad on his head,we shift but)

Rosy: but what ?speak,Is he okay

Doctor: he is perfectly out of danger, but he lost his past memories

Rosy stood frozen, paralyzed by the weight of the doctor’s words. Her body refused to respond numbness spread through her limbs like ice. Tears streamed endlessly down her face, her vision blurred by the force of grief. To say her world had been turned upside down would be an understatement her entire universe had been shattered beyond recognition. Everything she knew, everything she loved, was slipping through her fingers.
