Isabella waited in the luxurious living room, her surroundings feeling like a dream.
The opulence of the room made her apartment seem like a distant memory.
Every piece of furniture, every decoration, exuded wealth and sophistication.
She felt a sense of awe mixed with trepidation as she considered her new life within the walls of this mansion.
As she lost herself in the grandeur, her thoughts were interrupted by the distinct sound of approaching footsteps.
Jason, a man she had only seen briefly but recognized as one of Don Lorenzo's trusted associates, appeared in the doorway.
His presence was imposing, and his eyes held a keen intelligence.
He gave a curt nod, acknowledging her presence, and said,
"Follow me, Bella. Hope you don't mind me calling you Bella."
Isabella blushed slightly and replied, "No, not at all."
With that, she rose from the elegant couch and walked towards the door where Jason was holding it open for her.
When she stepped outside, she was met with a breathtaking sight.
The house was not just a house; it was a true mansion. Its architectural beauty and sprawling grounds took her breath away.
She couldn't help but let out a soft chuckle, a mix of disbelief and sheer amazement.
Jason noticed her reaction and smiled.
"It's quite a place, isn't it? We have a pool, a gym, a library – just about everything you can imagine. I'll give you a tour later when you have more time to explore."
Isabella nodded, her mind still reeling from the grandeur around her.
She had never imagined a life like this, and she couldn't help but wonder if she truly deserved to be here.
They entered a sleek and expensive-looking Range Rover, and the contrast between it and her modest lifestyle was stark.
The car seemed to scream money and power. As they drove through the city of New York, a comfortable silence enveloped them.
Soft music played in the background, and Isabella couldn't help but be struck by the beauty of the city she had called home her entire life.
Eventually, they reached the hospital, and Isabella was directed to her brother Marco's room.
Without hesitation, she opened the door and was met with a scene that both warmed her heart and brought tears to her eyes.
Marco, her sweet and brave younger brother, was lying in a hospital bed, a frown of worry on his young face.
"Bella!" he exclaimed, his eyes lighting up with joy. "Oh, Bella, I missed you. You promised to be back yesterday, and I was worried sick."
Tears welled up in Isabella's eyes as she rushed to her brother's side, hugging him tightly and peppering his face with kisses.
"I'm so sorry, my love. Something came up, but I promise to make it up to you. Were you scared? I'm so sorry for leaving you."
Marco looked up at his sister, his eyes wide with innocence, and replied,
"Relax, Bella. The big guy over there came and took me to the hospital. He explained that you had some work to do."
Bella turned and saw Jason standing in the room. Their eyes met, and she mouthed a silent "thank you." Jason responded with a nod and quietly left the room, giving them some much-needed privacy.
Isabella sat down in a chair close to her brother's bed, holding his hand and listening to him explain everything that had happened in her absence.
She wanted to scold him for opening the door to a stranger, but seeing the joy in her brother's eyes and feeling his warmth, she couldn't bring herself to do it.
All she could manage was a warm smile and a tight hug.
Marco's simple presence was a soothing balm to her worried soul.
He wanted to be a "big guy" for his sister, and he didn't want her to see how much he missed her.
His bravery tugged at Isabella's heartstrings, and she hugged him tightly, savoring the moments with her beloved brother.
Later, Jason returned to take Isabella back to the mansion.
She didn't want to leave Marco, but she knew she couldn't risk angering Don Lorenzo.
She promised her brother that she would be back the next day, and Marco, with tears in his eyes, nodded and smiled, his inner turmoil hidden beneath a facade of bravery.
He wanted to be strong for his sister, so she wouldn't know just how much he longed for her to stay.
After returning to the mansion from her visit to the hospital, Isabella as she stood there, taking in the elegant surroundings, the soft footsteps of someone approaching caught her attention.
A beautiful young woman with long, flowing blond hair, who appeared to be around Isabella's age, approached her with a warm smile. Without any hesitation, the young woman embraced Isabella tightly.
Isabella, taken by surprise, couldn't help but stiffen, feeling the need to catch her breath, but she refrained from returning the hug.
Jason, who had been accompanying her, finally spoke up, "Let her breathe, would ya?"
The beautiful young woman rolled her eyes at Jason and pulled back from the hug, her smile undiminished. "Sorry, my bad. My name is Lucia, and I'm Lorenzo's sister."
Isabella replied hesitantly, "Oh, hi, I'm Isabella. Mr. Lorenzo..."
She couldn't bring herself to say "husband" because they hadn't been married yet, and the uncertainty of her future with Don Lorenzo hung over her like a cloud.
Lucia, however, interrupted her with a laugh, her eyes twinkling with amusement.
"Sorry, I'm not laughing at you. It's just the first time I've heard someone call my brother 'Mister.' I get you; you're going to be married to my annoying brother. But trust me, he's not all that bad. And I'm happy to have another girl in this house; it gets lonely being the only girl in a house full of males."
Her words earned a grunt from Jason. Lucia's bubbly, charming, and sweet personality had a disarming effect, and Isabella couldn't help but smile.
Isabella was glad for the prospect of having a female companion in the mansion. After all, there were undoubtedly times when she would need someone to confide in or share her thoughts with.
Lucia's warm and welcoming demeanor was a refreshing change in an environment that was otherwise filled with stoic and imposing figures.
However, what Isabella didn't know was that Lucia was not just a charming and friendly presence; she was a force to be reckoned with.
She had a keen understanding of the world her family operated in, and her power and influence were not to be underestimated.
Beneath her friendly exterior lay a dangerous side, much like her brother, Don Lorenzo DeLuca
