'Shit!' Yasmine could feel her throat dry up at that moment. "Yes, Sir?" She turned back with a fake professional smile as if she didn't just roll her eyes the second her name rolled off his tongue.
"Last Friday," James began.
Yasmine gulped. Those two words alone made her knees buckle like she would fall to the ground any minute. 'Here it comes.' She crossed her fingers behind her back, for good measure and an extra dose of luck.
"I was supposed to leave for a meeting at around 10 PM while the party was still going on but I woke up the next morning unsure of what happened, mind refreshing my memory?"
"Huh?" Yasmine's jaw dropped in utter shock and confusion. 'He doesn't remember!' She exclaimed.
"Am I to repeat myself, Miss Palmer?"
"Oh, no. My apologies... The meeting was cancelled at the last minute and rescheduled for this Friday so you decided to stay longer for the celebration."
"I see," James uttered his favorite phrase for the tenth time since their conversation started. "You may take your leave now."
Yasmine nodded and walked to the door for the second time, this time, she was able to leave his office without being called back.
"He really doesn't remember." She sat at her table, disbelief painted over her face. She'd been expecting him to fire her or flat-out ignore what happened between them but this? This wasn't what she was expecting at all.
Who would have thought her ever-so-stoic boss was a man who couldn't remember what happened to him while drunk?
"This is good," She thought, "if he doesn't remember then I'll just pretend nothing ever happened between us and everything will be normal again." Yasmine smiled, thanking the universe for this unexpected gift that saved her job. No feelings were attached so moving on after this wasn't that big of a deal, or so she thought. A part of her hurt knowing she gave a piece of herself to someone and they didn't even remember it. It might be a trivial matter but to her it was important.
Not wanting to feel conflicted by her thoughts any longer, she quickly got to work. Going through the papers he gave her and sending him the files he requested.
Before she could get drowned in her work, a knock pulled Yasmine back to reality. Her face twisted to that of disgust the moment she saw who was standing at the door.
"Why are you here?" She asked, not bothering to mask her dislike for the man.
"No need to be so snappy, I'm here to see you." Theo winked or attempted to. His version of winking looked like the face of someone being strangled to death.
"I asked, why are you here?" Yasmine went straight to business, ignoring his advances.
"You might be the CEO's secretary but I'm still a manager here so stop acting all snobbish. Men don't like girls who are too tough and rude." His eyes drifted down to her cleavage. Her shirt was full coverage and dickhead proof but that didn't stop Theo from staring at her like a meal dished out to a hungry beast.
"And women don't like men who lose their senses the second they see anything with a skirt walk by. For the last time, why are you here?" Theo's attitude always made something churn in Yasmine's stomach and not in a nice way. He felt entitled to women and prided himself in the fact that he always had women clinging to him every second of the day. If he only knew they were clinging to him not because he was some Greek god but because they were afraid of him and what he would do to them if they denied his advances.
It was disgusting just thinking about how many women had been victimized by him and didn't even know it.
Just then Theo got up from his seat and strutted toward Yasmine's seat, making a terrifyingly long eye contact with her chest as he did so. "Do you know how many women want a piece of me?" Theo asked, taking a seat on Yasmine's table right in front of her. "I can get any woman I want and yet here I am, choosing you out of the hundreds of women lined up." He smirked, feeling confident in his words, confident that that overused line would work on her as it did the other women he flirted with.
Yasmine wanted to gag. It was clear Theo wasn't into her but simply into the fact that he could have her, own her, make her his to use and discard after finding a new plaything. He 'chose' her not because he cared but because she resisted. People do have a tendency to like what they can't have and Theo was the biggest proof of that.
"I'm genuinely curious, Theo, where do you get the confidence to spout nonsense like this as if you're reading the daily sermon."
Theo clenched his jaw from the impact of the insults packed in Yamsine's sentence. He was clearly affected but pretended not to care as he leaned in closer to her. "It's not nonsense if it works." He smirked again, feeling like he regained control of where their conversation was headed.
"Really now?" Yasmine cocked her head to the side, showing no sign of backing down, "because each time I stare at you, I sigh, wondering how anyone can bear to be in your premises for more than two seconds without gouging their eyes out. Don't you wonder the same or are you too blinded by your narcissism to realize that you aren't a sight for sore eyes, darling, you are the cause of it." Yasmine smirked and leaned back in her seat, satisfied by the look on Theo's face. She wished she could take a picture and frame that reaction, the face Theo makes when he's put in place by a woman. How satisfying.
"You bitch!" Theo spat, yelling out the only insults his two brain cells could come up with despite working overtime to not make him look as daft as he actually is. Without warning, he grabbed her by the hair and rubbed his greasy hands all over her chest. "You think you're all that, huh? Rejecting me, playing hard to get as if you're not a slut desperate to be fucked-"
The sound of Yamsine's palm landing on Theo's unbearable face resounded through the office. She spared no effort in using all her might in that slap. "If you dare lay a finger on me one more time I'll make sure you live to regret it." She stood up and shoved Theo away, "You can shove your two-inch stick up someone else's ass because I'm not interested... Now, leave my office right this second before I call HR and get you fired for sexually harassing me!"
Theo ran out of there with his tail tucked behind his legs. All he was capable of doing was spouting out empty threats as he made his way out, whimpering like a scared dog.
