Oh...Oh...Oh

"So..." Amelia trailed off, trying to find better ways to frame the question she was about to ask. "Uhm, about the baby... You know, who- I mean, how -"

Deciding to put her out of her misery before Amelia peed herself on her hospital bed, Yasmine butt in. "Who's the father, you ask?" She stared up at the ceiling for an unreasonable amount of time before looking back at Amelia with an unreadable expression on her face. "I've only slept with one person since I broke up with Andrew."

Amelia squinted her eyes, trying to process the information Yasmine had just given her. "Oh..." Her eyes widened with shock once it finally hit. "Oh..." She dramatically placed her hands on her chest to steady her breathing. "Oh... Oh my god, Yasmine!"

"Yeah..." Yasmine nervously scratched her nape. "It's my boss's baby."

"Jesus Christ, Yaz!... The guy really wastes no time, huh?" Amelia started, "In just one night, he shoots and scores a goal." She snickered. "So what are you going to do now?"

Yasmine slouched her body, plopping her head on the pillow with a sigh. "I don't know." She confessed. "I'm confused right now."

Amelia placed her hand on Yasmine's, giving it a slight squeeze. "I'm not going to tell you how you should deal with your baby, but Yaz, if you were to ask me, I think he deserves to know you're carrying his child."

"I know that, but... there's a lot to consider."

"Like what?"

"For starters," Yasmine started, "He still has no idea we slept together. If I do tell him, he might think I'm lying about it just to get money from him... Besides, even if he does believe me, there's a good chance he'll want full custody of the baby, and I can't have that. If we were to go to court, who do you think will come out the victor?"

Amelia's lips formed a tight purse as she considered Yasmine's perspective. She couldn't deny that Yasmine's concerns were reasonable, yet she found herself grappling with conflicting emotions. Speaking softly, she addressed Yasmine, "You're right about that... but, Yaz, what if these worries are just worries? What if everything falls into place as it should?"

"And what if it doesn't?" Yasmine had always been the most pessimistic of the two. She believed in finding the light at the end of the tunnel but also knowing when to accept that there was no end to the tunnel.

Not wanting to drag out the conversation any longer, Amelia brushed off the topic. "No need to stress over this. Let's just sleep on it for now... Whatever you decide, I'll be right by your side."

"I'm glad I have you." Yasmine smiled, appreciation oozing from her face.

After their discussion, Amelia left to pick up some food and the prescribed medication for Yasmine, while Yasmine remained at the doctor's office for additional checkups.

The day that was meant for a relaxing beach outing turned into a tearful day at the hospital. However, Yasmine wouldn't have wanted it any other way, as it turned out to be the happiest she had been in a long time.

I decided to add reference pictures so you can have an idea of what the characters look like. I'm a fan of animations, so I didn't use real photos.
