Simoné's POV

After Keenan's words: "I'm coming for you!!" my body started reacting to long lost feelings and memories. Everything around the kitchen table seemed to be a haze. I hardly caught everyone's congratulations and hugs and soon found myself alone in my room. There was a knock at my bedroom door. Can I not just be alone for a little bit? "Come in" I said putting on my dazzling smile. Chrisanne stuck her head in and looked at me for a moment, as if asking for permission to enter. I gestured with my hard for her to come in.

"Juliet, you all right in here? It looked like you were planning to run for the hills." I laughed, my dear friend knows me so well, even though we were apart for 5 years; she was still tuned in to me like a sister. "Ahhh Romeo, I see you still in touch with me, brilliant. I have missed you so, so much" I ran to her and hugged her tightly. She patted my back. We walked out on my balcony and took some seats.

"You better start talking sista. I can tell you are a bit rattled. And I shall not be leaving till you spill it." Oh Chrisanne where do I start, I thought. "Tell her about her delicious sounding brother, tell her!" Shaney commented in my head. "I received a mindlink. From Keenan!" I said biting my bottom lip, looking down at the floor. "And? Don't leave me cliff hanging like that!" Chrisanne stated arching her one brow and looking at me in anticipation.

How can I tell her that my high school crush had awaken certain memories and feelings within me. Stuff I was self not ready to discuss or admit, for that matter. I had to remember he had a mate out there somewhere, and hopefully so did I. And how would this affect me and Chrisanne's relationship, if it turned out badly. I was not going to let this Alpha Boy play with me, I will not allow it. What is it with Alpha's and me. Thinking back to the missed calls I ignored from Summer Valley and a certain Alpha. Well, I need to confide in someone and Chrisanne would guard my secrets better than a soldier guarding the Queen's jewels. As far as I am concerned my friend is Fort Knox.

"He congratulated me in joining the pack. And ..." I said the 'And' bit more uncertainly. "And, what?" Chrisanne asked. "His parting words made me worry. He said: 'I'm coming for you!!'" My friend started clapping her hands like a Duracell bunny, obviously very excited. She held her tummy and started laughing. I reached for the closest pillow and threw it at her. She fell off her seat rolling on the floor. Once her hysterics melted down enough to say something, she said: "Oh, this is going to be so interesting, can't wait for the big bad wolf to get back home." I gulped looking her in the eyes. She got up from the floor and took her seat again, straightning her clothes.

I was not ready for anything serious. With current things like they are, I would be a liability to this pack and to Keenan. No matter what I felt, I could not give in to his whims, nor his arrogance and stubbornness as I remembered it. I was definitely not going to be an easy target for him, nor will I entertain him, playing with my feelings. I think Keenan will be in for a surprise.

Time to change the topic. "So, Romeo are you training with me tomorrow?" I asked boasting a mischievous smile. I was wondering if her fighting techniques have improved over the years. She was always good competition. My muscles were aching to get working again and Shaney was irritating me about getting to run in her new pack. This might just be the release we needed, just to get focused.

"Ahhh, Juliet, so sweet of you to ask. Do you think you can keep up with me now? I have not stopped training like you might think. I am an Alpha you know." Chrisanne replied. My thoughts were taken back to a few minutes ago, around the kitchen table, when she herself was in submission to my aura. Shaney giggled in my mind, thinking the same thing. "Friend, I would never underestimate you." I smiled thinking how lucky I am to still have such a good friend.

Chrisanne rose to her feet, a soft smile playing on her features. "Sims, tomorrow you pack your bags and move to the packhouse. There is a beautiful room right next to mine, and it will keep us closer together, I'm not taking no for an answer. And now my dear Juliet, alas I have to bid you farewell. I think you need your beauty sleep, if we are going to move you and play fight-fight tomorrow. Besides you look exhausted. I am so glad you are back, I missed you terribly." I stood up giving her a tight hug and whispering I missed her too. I walked her to my door and send her off with a wave.

I turned to look at the soft lighting in the room with the beautiful view over the forest. I closed my balcony doors and got my PJ's out, heading to the bathroom. After dressing and brushing my hair and teeth, I got into bed. It was quite late already but, I had one phone call to make. Browsing through the missed calls I came to his name, it read: 'Alpha Charl'. I took a deep breath and dialed his number.

The answer came almost instantly. "Sims, I was so worried, are you okey?" One could not mistake the sleepy voice on the other side of the phone, probably sleeping with his phone in his hand, waiting for me to call. "Charl, I am safe" I heard him steadily breathing out with relief. Silence! Then he talked again. "I miss you so much already, when are you coming back?" I rolled my eyes on the other side of the phone. "Charl, please don't make this more difficult than it is, I told you I am not coming back. I came home to my pack, where I belong. They already accepted me into the pack. I told you we are just friends." I rubbed my aching temple, trying to ease the threatening headache.

"Sims, you know what we had, was more than friendship, we have a deep connection. I cannot let you go just like that." he sounded almost desperate now. My voice trembled as tears leaked over my cheeks. In a soft voice I said: "But you have to, I am not your mate. Your mate will come, I have no doubt about it." He laughed almost cynically: "Please, if she has not pitched up yet, I doubt she will pitch up in the future. I would be proud to have you as my chosen mate." his voice pleading. Shaney chose that moment to raise her hackles: "We will not choose him; we will wait for our mate!" I agreed with her, we will wait until our last breath.

I broke the silence: "Charl, I have to go it was a very long and exhausting day. We will speak soon." He sighed and replied: "Good night, Sims, sleep tight, we will speak soon." The phone was disconnected. I set my alarm and plugged in my phone for charging. I switched of my bedside lamp but left the twinkling lights on, it felt so peaceful now with everything being so quiet. I pulled the duvet up and snuggled into my pillow. Soon I was drifting off to sleep.
