*TW Abuse*

We return to the courtyard, Miguel smiles at me and pulls me close to him, I breath in his scent, a musky sandalwood scent radiates off of him. He pulls back just a bit and looks into my eyes. "I'll claim I wish a mortal life to be with you." I'm caught off guard. "What?" "Your father, I'll tell him I want a mortal life with you." Oh boy, how reversed is this? "You can ask him; he can't exactly refuse a God. Right?" Miguel pulls me in close and our lips meet. Soft, gentle and serene. My heart warms and Ifeel excitement in my chest. He pulls back and we hear laughter of children, they're playing ball in the courtyard. Their ball bounces over and Miguel picks it up, joining in their game. I feel light and happy, my people have come out to mingle with Lord Miguel, I smile and watch as my people freely walk the streets, I feel a hand on my shoulder, and I whip my head around. A strange man, tall, dark hair, built, I gulp and stare. "Hello, Divine Viracocha." I am taken aback and gasp. Whispering in shock, "Pages? Is that you?" Pages' nods and leans down to my ear. "Divine Viracocha, Khan is close to discovering your identity." I shake my head and back away. "How? How can he?" Pages grabs both my shoulders and looks into my eyes. "He's questioning the Gods' and their lack of power. They won't accept human sacrifices. I heard them, at the temple. Khan spoke to Tulio, told him you and Miguel were out with the people. They're coming. Khan is suspicious. You need to get to safety or make a move. This is getting too dangerous! You're getting involved with one of them and you soon won't be able to tell where your responsibility starts and your lust ends." I shake my head and push their hands off of me. "We have to throw him off." "You've already fornicated with one of them, I'm afraid you are incapable of being objective to this any longer." I look over, Miguel walks over to us. "Miguel!" I rush over to him. "Something you need to tell me?" I shake my head confused. "What?" Miguel closes his eyes slowly and sighs. "Who is that?" Looking over to the human Pages, I sigh. "That's Pages, he's a dear friend of mine. He came to warn us." Miguel crosses his arms, eyeing Pages down with a narrowed gaze. "Miguel! It's Khan!" He stops and looks at me in shock. "Pages heard that Khan told Tulio we're here. They're on their way now!" Miguel raises an eyebrow. "And how would Pages' know that?" I look at him with pleading eyes. "Pages heard them, he went to the temple to find us, they heard them talking." Pages walks over and steps between us. "Lord Miguel, I'm afraid of your relationship with Divine Lady Viracocha, she seems to pose as a distraction to your authority and ruling as a God." I felt the sleight towards me. Miguel furrows his brow and shakes his head. ""Divine Lady Viracocha?" What do you mean?" I glare at Pages. Pages shakes his head. "I can't keep up this ruse, forgive me, Miguel, you're no God. You are an imposter, the real Viracocha is Divine Lady Viracocha, right here!" I gasp and go completely pale. "What?" Miguel says in disbelief, his eyes widen, and he steps back. "The rumors are true, she is a Goddess among people, she has been too distracted by you to comprehend the danger she is in." I look to the confused man who just stares at me. "Miguel, I can explain-!" "Miguel! What are you doing?" Tulio yells. We all flinch and look over. Tulio and Chel angerly walk over. "This is outrageous! You shouldn't be out among the people like this! Not playing ball!" Tulio continues. Khan chimes in, "The Gods should be playing ball like real Gods!" Khan grabs me and pulls me over to him; Miguel goes to grab me away, but Tulio and Chel stand in front of him. "To make sure there are no distractions, this little "Divine" thing will be by my side until the game is over." Fear radiates from my body, did he hear? Does he know?

The ball game plays out and Miguel and Tulio found a way to cheat, Chel tossed in an armadillo, and I helped with it defying gravity, they're catching up to the other team. Finally, the last shot. With barely any time left and a thing of luck, I watch as they claim victory. The people roar in cheers, too racked with fear I can't make a sound come out of my mouth, Chel cheers for them down on the ground. Miguel throws the ball to Tulio, and he makes a glance towards me, sadness mixed with confusion. I watch as they ride of the back of their horse, where they toss the ball, and Tulio hits Miguel in the face with his elbow. Miguel uses his foot to get the ball in the hoop, it teeters, staying right in the comfy circle. I let out a small breath and the wind knocks it down. Khan looks at me and smirks. In a hushed voice he cruelly chuckles. "So, looks like you are the Divine Lady Viracocha." Once the conch shell bellows, Khan announces the victory and begins walking down the steps. Pages had disappeared earlier during our walk to the game field, he ducked into the forest. I shakily and weakly walk to the Gods, the angst building with each step. Does Miguel believe Pages? Why would Pages do that? I know he's loyal, but why wasn't he loyal enough to pretend Miguel was a God? Is he that loyal to me? Is he jealous? Is he upset because I chose a mortal? I don't even realize that I made it to the bottom of the steps, until Khan extends his arm, and I run into it, falling down. I look up, Miguel and Tulio look down on me. Miguel hesitates to help me up, he stops and looks away from me. My heart shatters, I look down at the ground and Khan yanks me up. "My Lords, you have won!" He bows and smiles. "Please, select your tribute." The team bows before them and concern then anger paints across their faces in the span of seconds. Khan then grabs both my shoulders and shoves me into the line-up. The force of his shove causes me to slide across the dirt. I hear gasps from everyone. "As an added bonus, she is also an option." Miguel turns quickly on his heel. "Tzekel Khan!" Khan lifts his hand. "If you do not wish for her to be a sacrifice, then this one is now under my ruling. I have found that she has deceived the Gods!" Tulio looks to Miguel with a raised eyebrow. "What is he talking about?" Khan chuckles and turns to them both. "She has claimed she is the Goddess of El Dorado; she has impersonated you, my Lords. As speaker of the Gods, she is to be punished. Per our law, impersonation of our Gods is punishable by death." Gasps erupt from the villagers. "No, we will not have any more sacrifices! None! The Gods speak for themselves now! No more sacrifices, not now. Not ever! The law will be abolished!" Miguel shouts, I notice the blood drip from his eyebrow from where Tulio elbowed him in the final goal. "You're reign of terror ends now, Khan! You will leave these people alone! You will leave Viracocha alone!" Khan shakes his head. "My Lords, our city's laws are made to protect the people. She falls under the El Dorado jurisdiction which falls with the Speaker of the Gods. However, I will obey your commands for no more sacrifices. My Lords." Guards run onto the field, and I am bound by my hands and feet. My father shakes his head and angerly approaches Khan. "You dare accuse my daughter of such a thing?" He speaks with fury written all over his face. I look to Miguel and Tulio, worry and confusion adorn their faces and Chel glares at me. "You lied to us?" Tulio asks. "No. I mean... It's just..." I hang my head and sigh. "You wouldn't understand." I'm dragged away by Khan and the guards, the ground scraping my legs and hips. The tiny cuts sting and burn, not as much as my heart breaks. "Khan! Release her!" Miguel yells. "The Gods have given you a command!" He ignores what they say and proceeds onward. My father stops Tulio and Miguel from chasing after us.
