Harvard University was not as cool as it was in the brochures. It was way bigger than I thought it was. "It's amazing," said Max, who was right beside me with his jaw dropped in disbelief of how gorgeous it was.

We walked into the building and I saw multiple students walking around busy with books and computers. I was amazed by the amount of work ethic they have, and it made me so excited to get started. A few moments later, a woman with a bob cut hair and a suit, like the ones you wear in an office with some high heels, stood in front of us freshmen. She looked more like she was in her senior year of university, like 21 or 22 years old.

"Welcome to Harvard University, my name is Emilia Jones, and we are so glad to have you here. I'll be your tour guide." She was so beautiful, but I knew she was out of my league. Who would want to date a poor African who needs a scholarship to be here? The way she dressed screamed rich.

After a couple of hours, we were taken around the campus and then to the administration to get to our dorm rooms. Coincidentally, Max and I were paired with each other in our own room. We got the dorms and looked for room 193. After we settled into the room, Max immediately said, "Our tour guide was so hot, wasn't she?" He said that with a huge smile on his face. "I mean, she was okay," was my response, but in truth, she was hot as fuck, and I've never seen anyone as gorgeous as she was.

After we settled into the room, I took a bath and began to study, which came as a shock to Max because we just got there and we didn't even get our first lecture yet. But it didn't bother me because I had to work extremely hard in order to please my Dad. I had to become a Doctor, otherwise, there would be no point in coming to America.

After a couple of hours, I got tired, so I woke up Max, who had been asleep while I had been studying, so that we could go out and check out the town. It was about sunset when we got out. "Why do you work so hard?" asked Max. I replied by saying, "Because my father wants me to be a doctor, and I can't fail him." And it's not just him I would fail because my whole community is counting on me to succeed. No one in my hometown has had this huge opportunity to come to America.

As we were about to get out of campus, we met Emilia, the tour guide from earlier. I looked over to Max, who was staring at her. We were just about to cross paths when Max greeted, "Hi Emilia!" She turned over to him and looked back forward, continuing in the direction she was originally going. It was almost as if it was embarrassing to be seen with us freshmen, which was the total opposite of how she acted earlier. She was so sweet and kind, but in this moment, she was cold and ruthless. Max was stunned by that; he just stood there with his mouth open.

"I can't believe what just happened," he said, whilst I began to burst out in laughter. "Hey, it's not funny," but I still continued laughing. My laughter was cut short when a senior came up to us. They looked big and strong, like jocks from high school. "Are you guys coming to the party?" the guy said. "What party?" I mumbled. "The party of opening a new semester; we have these every new semester." That's when I recalled Emilia earlier, when we crossed paths with her, she was all dressed up in a purple sparkly dress with a pearled necklace.

"So are you guys coming?" "But we weren't invited," said Max shyly. "You don't need one; it's free for all!" He said excitedly. Max and I looked at each other before turning back to the senior and agreed to go to the party. Max and I were still dressed in the clothing we were wearing upon getting here. I looked presentable, whilst Max's clothes were still good but wrinkled since he slept on them.

The senior introduced his name as Kyle, and the party was held at one of the senior dorms. I expected a very huge crowd since it didn't need an invite, and it was crazy in there - drugs, alcohol, and sex wherever you went. In the corner of the living room, I saw Emilia with who I think is her boyfriend because they looked like they were flirting with each other.

"You want some drinks?" Kyle said, interrupting my thoughts. "No, thank you, I don't drink," but Kyle kept on persisting. I looked around and didn't see Max anywhere; it seemed like he ditched me, enjoying the party elsewhere, whilst I'm stuck with Kyle. After what felt like the millionth time of asking, I finally gave in to Kyle's persistence. "Fine, I'll drink, but only one." I thought to myself, one drink wouldn't hurt, would it? So he hands me a cup of alcohol, and watches closely as I drink.

I take it at one go and started coughing. Kyle told me to drink slower since it was my first time drinking. I told him to hand me another shot of the alcohol; this time, I did it slower. That wasn't the last time I took a shot of alcohol without realizing I had taken multiple shots during the night. I found a way to ditch Kyle, who kept on giving me more and more alcohol. I went upstairs of the dorm room, completely drunk. When I got up the stairs, I saw Emilia kissing the guy I saw earlier. When they saw me, the guy walked up to me, looked me in the eye, and told me to beat it. But I didn't want to; instead, I replied to him like this: "I want Emilia to myself."

The guy immediately burst into laughter. "You can't get her; you're just a freshman." He said, but it seems like the alcohol seemed to have brought confidence in me, so I punched the guy right in his face. It didn't seem to hurt him much, which was disappointing because that was all my power. But I could tell he was angry. "You little bitch," he said and punched me so hard that I got knocked out.

The next morning, I woke up with a bandage on my cheek, and my head was hurting. I didn't know if this was what they called a hangover or if I was just feeling the effects of the punch or if it was a little bit of both. I got out of bed, took a shower - a very long shower, for that matter - got dressed, and took off looking for a cafe, which didn't take long to find because it wasn't so far from campus. I had my air pods on to listen to my favorite artist, Ava Wilder, who is such a talented songwriter that she always had a song for every mood, whether it was love, depression, you name it, she had a song for it. And what was so crazy was that she is still 19 years old and so talented. I wish I could get to meet her.

So drained from last night, I didn't even pay attention to where I was going. That's when I went into the café, and I bumped into a woman who turned out to be Ava Wilder herself.

I wrote a longer part; I hope you guys enjoy it and share it with others. I'm excited about the direction of the story, and I hope you are too!
