Dipper (pov)

Lunch had finally come, and Mabel was talking my ear off about all the things we were going to do when we got back to gravity Falls. But all I could think about was Pacifica. Was it gonna be awkward when I saw her again? My brain started racing a mile a minute for the things that could go wrong when I see her in particular.

All of a sudden a marshmallow hit me right above the eyebrow. I looked up

"Bro I've called your name multiple times."

"oh sorry," I said quietly

"She called you, Mason, dude" June said

I look confused at Mabel. She never called me, Mason, even when she was pissed at me or extremely annoyed. She never called me Mason, not even once.

"Was I really that deep and thought" I muttered to myself

"Someone has been texting you a mile per minute and because my foot is against your backpack and it keeps feeling it buzzing" Mabel said with a mouth Full of marshmallows.

I sigh and looked into my backpack to grab my phone. It was probably Scotty or Dylan calling me over their failed mistletoe plan.

Instead, the caller ID said

***Pacifica Northwest***

I looked at Mabel. She just shrugged then I looked at June.

"Pacifica," she said slowly, "the blonde rich girl, you reluctantly became friends with at the end of summer?"

"yeah um what should I do?"

"answer her you dingbat!" Mabel said quickly.

I took a deep breath and pressed the green button and then I spoke.

"Hi Pacifica, it's a dipper. You're on speakerphone with Mabel and my school friend June."

"June?" Pacifica voice said inquisitively through phone

"That's me," June said Chipley "desperately trying to find a girlfriend for me and dipper before the end of the year"

My head fell into my hands as I knew immediately what she was doing.

"You're worse than Mabel" I whispered quietly under my breath,

She just grinned at me.

"Oh, OK." Pacifica said clearly, took it back by the comment.

My face was flush and it wasn't because of the California heat.

"Um not to sound rude but why are you calling us Pacifica?" Mabel said

"Is there some kind of problem?"
I asked as the horrific thought hit me. The thought that kept me up at night

"He's not back," Pacifica said in a quick but calm voice.

I know June was about to ask who he was but Pacifica cut her off before she could say anything

"Candy and Brenda just wanna plan a sleepover with Mabel" she said in her usual valley Girl accent.

"Oh ok" I said

that's when Brenda's loud voice boomed

"hi Mabel, dipper and friend"

"Hi Mabel, hi dipper...how are you doing?" Candy said nervously.

Ever since the first summer, I went to Gravity Falls. I always knew candy had a slight crush on me. Although she is a nice girl, I just never saw her in that way and I don't think I ever could.

"Hi Candy" I said in the most casual way I could muster without seeming rude and dry.

"Mabel says you're taller than her now...is that true?"

"Erh yeah I guess I'm like an inch and a half taller or something" I said

"Oh ok" candy said quietly, leaving an awkward silence that made me wanna die

Pacifica came to my rescue

"Anyways, I can't believe I'm actually saying this but like I can't wait for you guys to come back to gravity Falls...am I allowed to say I missed you guys?"

"if it's illegal, lock me up," I said With sarcastic grin

I could hear Pacifica's laugh through the phone. She surprisingly had a very genuine laugh, a contagious kind of one that made others laugh, maybe that's one of the reasons she's so popular she can just control her room like that.

I could feel my face getting red. I looked at my watch. "Lunch is over in five minutes. We better start packing it up guys."

Mabel and June nodded their heads, I put my phone down and started packing up my things when June gave me a concerned look

"You barely ate anything again"

"Oh, I forgot" I said quietly

Mabel looked over. "You've been forgetting a lot lately" She gave me this knowing look.

I looked at the browning apple slices. my head rushed back when I was 10 hiding behind a corner. Hearing my parents argue loudly about me, I was holding a bowl of browning apple slices I left in my room.

I felt sick.

June got up and left the table.

"i'm just not hungry it's probably just my medication" i'm mumbled under my breath

Mabel didn't look convinced "yes just how your lack of sleep is probably because of the medication or your dehydration is probably because of the medication or constant panic-"

She was cut off by a beep from my phone. I looked down. Pacifica had just disconnected the call.

She had heard everything.
