It's Christian's birthday and I have a cake in the fridge and several paper cuts on my fingers from folding origami flowers for him (I was feeling artsy, what can I say?). He's out picking up some friends from the airport which he shouldn't be doing on his birthday, but he's so sweet, letting me prepare him some cute stuff for his day. I take another 15 minutes on the origami flowers, finally completing them and setting them in a vase, making the table and streamers that I bought earlier look nice in case he comes home while I'm out buying his favorite drinks. I'll be taking him out for dinner alone tonight, just me and him. Kinda like a romantic birthday date. I think he'll like it. I smile before leaving and locking the door and driving to the nearby grocery store and putting two bottles in. I find some of his favorite candy on the way and have to grab it before checking out and heading back home. I sing on the way home (just some of our older songs) and when I'm back I can see that Christian is finally back from the airport with the boys,

"Hey, birthday boy," I tease and give him a hug, rustling his hair, "How was the drive?"
"Tedious, as usual, but I'm definitely hungry now," he says and I laugh, stealing a quick kiss when nobody's looking. He smiles again and I can stare at his smile all day,

"I wanted to take you for dinner later, just me and you?" I whisper and he nods,

"Yeah, and I can have dessert later too," he winks and gives my ass a light slap,

"Haha, very funny," I say but wink back at him so he knows I'm down. We go over and drink some beer with the guys, get the cake out, do the usual and I can't stop looking at him. I fell in love with him a long time ago, but I feel like I'm falling in love with him all over again, hearing him laughing and watching him smile, the candle lights flickering in his magical eyes. I wonder where the hell I would be without him. Without my soulmate.
