"She's a homerun hitter..."
The team cheers from the dugout as I step into the batter's box.
"...and you're never gonna get her..."
I take my stance, feet apart, bat to my ear, watching the pitcher.
"...so give up right now!"
The ball comes flying towards me in a seemingly unhittable spiral.
This is the big moment. If I hit this ball, we can win. If I don't we have to go home. And I want to stay on the field.
"So give up right now!"
The ball comes and I swing the bat in a beautiful arc. The ball sails through the air...
But was the hit hard enough to go over the wall?
Or will the ball be caught and send me home?
