Y/N sat in her room, engrossed in fantasy stories about princesses, dragons, wolves, and, most of all, pirates. She adored pirates—the thrill of sailing the seas, discovering new places—it was everything she dreamed of. She longed to see the world, but her family forbade it. They insisted it was too dangerous, that their town was the safest place they had ever lived. It was true, she knew everyone there, and everyone was her friend. But after years in the same place, it had grown unbearably dull. She loved her friends, no doubt, but the thought of being stuck there forever filled her with dread.
"Y/n, darling! Time for school!" her mother called. Reluctantly, she slid the book under her bed and hurried downstairs. She grabbed her bag, kissed her mom on the cheek, and dashed out the door. "Bye, Mom! See you after school!"
The school day was uneventful. She saw her friends, did some work, but that was about it. Now, she walked home, earphones in, music playing. Lost in her thoughts, she didn't notice the person in front of her until she collided with him. She nearly fell, but a pair of strong hands caught her just in time. "I-I'm so sorry, are you okay?" a boy's voice stammered. She opened her eyes to see a worried look on the face of a green-haired boy with freckles and striking green eyes. "Yes, I'm okay, thank you... Are you?" she asked, rubbing the back of her head, embarrassed.
"Oh, I'm ok! don't worry, Accidents happen." He smiled, and she found herself charmed by his boyish face. "I'm Izuku Midoriya, by the way." He extended his hand. She looked at his hand, then back at him, before shaking it with a smile. "Nice to meet you, Izuku. I'm Y/n, but you can call me N/n." He returned the smile as he pulled his hand away. "Nice to meet you, Y/n. I should get going, though. Maybe we'll meet again soon." They exchanged goodbyes, and she continued home, thoughts swirling.
That evening, Y/n, her mother, father, and younger sister sat around the dinner table in silence. After a while, she gathered the courage to speak. "Mother, Father..." Her parents froze, their eyes on her, waiting. "I've decided what I want for my birthday." They smiled warmly. "What is it, honey?" her mother asked. Y/n hesitated, her heart pounding. "I want a ticket to travel the world." Her father's expression darkened, and he looked down, struggling to keep his temper. "Darling, you know we can't do that... it's safer here, baby, and you know that," her mother said softly. "But I'm almost 18, Mother. I'll have to move out soon, and I don't want to stay in this town for the rest of my life. Please—"
"Y/n, don't talk back to your mother," her father interrupted, his voice firm. She raised her voice, desperation creeping in. "Please, you have to trust me! I'll be saf—"
SLAP.
She felt a stinging pain on her cheek, tears welling up in her eyes. Her father had slapped her. Stunned, she looked at her mother and sister, who both averted their eyes. Anger and heartbreak surged within her. She slammed her fist on the table, stood up, and stormed to her room, slamming the door behind her. She collapsed onto her bed, sobbing uncontrollably. Her father had never hit her before, and it broke her heart. After some time, she wiped her tears away, grabbed a bag, and began packing. She stuffed in some clothes, her charger, and her beloved book before sneaking out through her bedroom window. She needed to clear her mind, so she headed to the beach.
