Mysterious Boy (a Pokémon fanfic)

Flinching

Nihei's POV:
Ippei and I just stood there watching the boy. He looked so innocent but, at the same time he looked like someone who has been put through a lot in such a young life. He was petting the Froakie, with a little smile on his face even though he also looked like he was trying to figure out where he was, and if where he was is safe or not. Froakie seemed to whole care about if the boy was safe.
I approached the boys bed, walking slowly so I don't scare him.
"Hey little one," I said when I got close to his bed. The boy looked up at me, but I couldn't tell if he was scared or not. I reached out to stroke his hair out of his face, making him flench a little. "It's ok I won't hurt you." The boy looked at me with an eye closed but letting me move his hair out of his face.
"Can you tell us your name little one," Ippei asked from standing right behind me. The child just looked at both of us, probably trying to decide is we're safe to be around.
"S-san-sanpei," the child said in a timid voice.
"Sanpei?" Ippei said back to the child to make sure. The child gave a small nod.
"Well nice to meet you Sanpei. I'm Nihei and this is my older brother Ippei," I said smiling at him. The boy took a moment before speaking again.
"M-mama said t-that the na-names Ip-Ippei and Ni-Nihei are bad." Ippei and I shared a look.
"Well Sanpei, Ippei and I aren't bad. If you want we can take care of you." The child just looked at us, than at Froakie.
"Fro Froakie."
"R-really?"
"Froakie"
"O-ok," Sanpei said to Froakie, which it's really rare to see a child so young be able to understand a Pokémon so clearly. Sanpei turned to us. "I-I'll st-stay with y-ou b-bo-both." Ippei and share a smile.
"Well we'll head back to where you'll be staying once Lady Shinobu makes share you go to leave," Ippei said smiling at Sanpei. Sanpei just nodded and turned back to Froakie.
~Later~
Sanpei had gotten released from the nurses area and now we are all in Ippei's room, which has a door connected right into my room. Sanpei looks a bit uncomfortable so, we let him explore for a bit before sitting down and talking with him.
"So... Sanpei how old are you," I asked him once we all got in a circle.
"4."
"Do you mind telling us why you were alone in the river?" Ippei asked softly, I've known Ippei literally my whole life, and he's never used this soft of a tone when talking to me. Sanpei shook his head no. "That's ok, you don't have to tell us."
"Ok Snapei, so there's no extra rooms for you to sleep in... so would you like to sleep. In my room? I'll sleep in Ippei's room."
"Umm... can... can I sleep... in the same room," Sanpei asked in a small and tempted voice. Ippei and I looked at each other for a second before turning back to him.
"Sure thing little one," Ippei told him in such a kind voice, one that he's only used on me. Sanpei seemed to relax a bit at it, he also gave us a small smile.
"T-thank you."
"It's no problem Sanpei, now would you like to sleep in the same room as one of us or both of us?" I asked him.
"B-both." Ippei and I both nodded and smiled at him.
"Alright little one, let's get you ready for bed than... and us too," Ippei said picking up Sanpei. Sanpei seemed to flinch at the movement.
"Sanpei? You ok?" I asked him putting my hand on his back, which only caused him to flinch again.
"Mhm mhm"
"Sanpei you don't have to lie. If we scared you, you just have to say something," Ippei said rubbing Sanpei's back.
"S-sorry"
"It's ok just say something if we scare you ok?"
"O-ok," once Sanpei said this, Ippei and I headed to my room, to try and find something that Sanpei can sleep in.
