As they wound through the scenic mountains, Aditya kept a careful grip on the steering wheel, his eyes focused on the road ahead. The curves were sharp, and his concern was evident as he glanced at her. "How long is this camp? until night?" he asked, his tone betraying a hint of unease about the idea of her being out in a village after dark.

She glanced at him, "No, not till night. We'll finish up by 6 p.m.," she replied gently.

But before her words could fully settle, Aditya's eyes widened as he spotted a row of barriers up ahead, manned by Kashmir Police. His heart raced as he slammed on the brakes, the car jolting to an abrupt stop. Without thinking, he reached out, his hand hovering protectively over her forehead, ready to shield her from any impact, his breath caught in his throat.

"Are you okay?" he asked urgently, turning toward her, his voice edged with concern.

She took a shaky breath, the sudden stop leaving her momentarily stunned. But she managed a small nod. "Ji, I'm okay," she whispered, her voice steady but soft.

"I'm so sorry," he said, his voice breaking slightly. "I should've been more careful. That turn came out of nowhere, and I—"

"It's okay," she interrupted, "Aap theek hain?"

He nodded, though his gaze lingered on her, scanning her face, her hands, every inch of her for any signs of injury. Relief washed over him when he saw she was unharmed, but his jaw clenched as he cast a wary glance at the police officers ahead. His protective instincts were in overdrive, his mind racing with thoughts of what could've happened, his heart still pounding from the scare.
