*set after good girl, bad blood and inspired by the song, 'until I found you' by stephen sanchez
Pip found herself staring off into space again. She never tried to do get distracted. But ever since the death with Stanley Morbes, her sudden betrayal with Charlie Green, and the funeral where everyone racked Stanley's name in the mud, Pip found she was feeling less and less of herself. Like she was lost, still stuck in that moment. Screaming for Charlie to not shoot. Trying to save Stanley. The smoke till burning in her lungs. The blood on her hands. The gun going off and-
"Hey sarge."
Ravi appeared at her door, hanging off the frame and giving her a small wave. She noticed he had a cookie in his hand, which caused her to laugh, his presence bringing her out of her thoughts. "Hey," she muttered, glancing back at her laptop.
Currently, she was finishing the last upload of her podcast following the case of Jamie Reynolds, which included how Charlie and his wife, Flora, were catfishing Jamie, Stanley, and Luke Evans- Nat da Silva's ex-boyfriend, into thinking that a woman, Layla Mead, was attracted to them, in order to trap and murder Stanley.
It was pretty sick when Pip really thought about it.
"Whatcha up to?" Ravi said, walking into the room and shutting the door quietly behind him. The sound reminded her too much of the gun. The gun that never seemed to go away. Never seemed to leave her alone. The gun that haunted her so much she couldn't sleep at night and could barely walk down the halls of her school without jumping or being brought back to that dark moment.
"I was about to upload the last episode, but I got distracted." she said wearily, rubbing the tiredness out of her eyes. Ravi sat next to her on her bed, placing his foot on her chair. "I don't want your crumbs on my bed."
She heard Ravi snicker, wiping the cookie essence off of his hands and leaning over to her laptop. "Sorry, sorry." he whispered as he gave her a small kiss on her temple, causing her to smile. "Well, what are you waiting for? Upload it." Pip sighed, leaning back in her chair and crossing her arms. "What's wrong?"
"Nothing's wrong."
"I know you, Pip," Ravi said, turning her chair to face him. "And something is definitely wrong. You regretting not going to homecoming or something?" he said, wiggling his eyebrows. "I have to admit, I would look quite ravishing in a tuxedo."
Pip pushed him away, causing him to dramatically fall onto the bed. "No, I'm not regretting that. School dances are full of adolescent-"
"Adolescent drama that no one needs in their lives, I know." Ravi said, rolling his eyes. "But it might have been fun. I know Cara wanted you to go."
"Yeah, but you couldn't have gone." Pip shot back, glancing back at the screen that seemed to be beckoning her to press 'upload'. But something inside kept holding her back. Maybe not wanting to trash Charlie and Flora, her once sweet, supportive neighbors who offered her some good advice. Or she didn't want to make Jamie look like a fool for being catfished. Or maybe, she didn't want to talk about Stanley, now that he was dead. Maybe it was all of it, really.
Ravi sat back up, looking over at her laptop screen. "Stupid age differences." he tried to make a joke, Pip could tell, but she was just too preoccupied right now. "We should have our own homecoming."
Pip unintentionally glared at him. "What?"
"I never went. I stopped going to school way before senior year. We should have our own homecoming." Ravi said, getting to his feet and offering Pip his hand. Pip couldn't help but smile, he always seemed to know how to get her out of her head. Grabbing his hand, he pulled her upright and leaned over to close her laptop. "Stop worrying so much about the podcast. Let's just enjoy the moment, what do you say?"
Now Pip couldn't stop smiling, she probably looked like an idiot. Ravi pulled out his phone, opening his Spotify app and scrolling while holding her hand, dragging her to the center of her room. He picked a song, placing his phone on his desk, and offered his arms. Pip laughed, placing her hand on his shoulder while the other went straight to his other hand, fitting perfectly.
Ravi started laughing too, his hand resting on her waist, causing her to shiver a little bit. And the two began to sway to the music, laughing and talking about Pip's day and about Colombia. She found herself falling in love with Ravi Singh all over again.
Georgia, wrap me up in all your-
I want you in my arms"I love this song." Ravi said quietly, lifting Pip's hand so her could spin her. "Reminds me of you."
"But my name's not Georgia," Pip laughed, instantly regretting it. Ravi fell into a fit of laugher.
"I was trying to romantic, Pip. Why do you go off and ruin it?" he said, pulling her impossibly close to his chest, causing her heart to flutter. Pip rested her head in the place she always did, where his neck and shoulder met, and Ravi's chin was placed on the top of her head. They fit almost too well together. But Pip couldn't ask for anything better.
Georgia, pulled me in
I asked to love her once again
You fell, I caught you
I'll never let you go again like I didShe heard Ravi mumbling the words against her forehead as he gave her a whisper of a kiss, resting his lips there for longer than necessary. Pip smiled, closing her eyes and taking a deep breath. The gun was fading, like it always did when she was with Ravi. She took a deep breath, the air not as suffocating as it usually was, and nuzzled into him, trying to savor every second of their time together. "You alright?" Ravi said, a hand resting in her hair as he pulled them only inches apart. She already missed the closeness.
"Yeah. I'm- I'm alright." Pip said, giving him a weak smile. Ravi placed a finger under her chin, tilting her head up to look at him.
"You know I'm here for you, right? Always. I'm not going anywhere. It's team Pip and Ravi forever. We're like-" he stopped, laughing to himself, "squad goals." Pip nodded as she laughed. He always knew how to make her feel better. Even at the Reynolds barbeque a few days ago, when she felt so completely out of it, him simply holding her hand, giving her a smile, and letting her lean on his shoulder, just to allow her to breath for a moment, was perfect.
He was perfect. And she honestly didn't know how she deserved him.
Ravi wrapped his arms around her again and placed his forehead on hers. His way of taking on half her stress, her headaches. Half of her pain. Like he was sharing the struggle alongside her, keeping her grounded. Pip closed her eyes again and smiled. This was where she was supposed to be. Not in the farmhouse. Not in the graveyard.
The heaviness felt like it was fading away. Her Ravi had, like always, came to save the day. And she couldn't ask for anything better than that.
I would never fall in love again until I found her
I said, "I would never fall unless it's you I fall into"
I was lost within the darkness, but then I found her
I found you.
