Narae stood in front of her closet, staring at the array of clothes with a mix of anticipation and anxiety. Renjun was sprawled out on her bed, scrolling through his phone, occasionally glancing up to offer his input.
"Are you really going to stand there all night?" he teased, smirking. "It's just a party, Narae. Not the Met Gala."
Narae rolled her eyes, pulling out a dress and holding it against her. "I know, but I just... I want to look good, you know?"
Renjun raised an eyebrow, a playful glint in his eyes. "Who are you trying to impress?"
"No one," Narae replied quickly, a little too quickly. She fumbled with the dress, trying to seem nonchalant. "I just want to feel confident."
"Sure, sure," Renjun said, clearly not convinced. "Just pick something you're comfortable in. You always look good anyway."
Narae's cheeks felt heat slightly at the compliment, and she turned back to her closet, finally settling on a simple yet stylish outfit—a black dress that was formal enough for a party but still casual and comfortable. She slipped into the dress and checked her reflection in the mirror, smoothing out the fabric.
"What do you think?" she asked, turning to Renjun.
He glanced up, giving her a once-over before nodding approvingly. "Looks good. You're ready to turn some heads."
Narae scoffed, feeling a bit more at ease. "Alright, let's go before I change my mind."
Renjun hopped off the bed and grabbed his jacket, flashing her a grin. "Lead the way, party girl."
As they left her apartment and headed to the party, Narae couldn't help but feel a mixture of excitement and nervousness. She wasn't usually one for big social gatherings, but with Renjun by her side, she felt a bit more confident. They made light conversation on the way, Renjun cracking jokes and keeping the mood light.
When they arrived at Taeyong's place, the music was already blaring, and the house was filled with people. Narae took a deep breath as they stepped inside, trying to steady herself.
"Relax," Renjun said, noticing her hesitation. "It's just a party. We'll stick together."
Narae nodded, grateful for his presence. They made their way through the crowd, exchanging greetings with a few people they knew. The living room was packed with people, and Narae's eyes immediately landed on Jaehyun, who was standing near the kitchen, looking effortlessly cool in a casual yet stylish outfit.
Narae couldn't help but feel a flutter of attraction as she observed him. Jaehyun was undeniably handsome, with his sharp jawline and easy smile. She found herself admiring him for a moment, wondering if anyone else noticed how good he looked.
Renjun followed her gaze and smirked. "Jaehyun, huh?"
Narae groaned, playfully shoving him. "Shut up. I'm just... appreciating."
"Uh-huh," Renjun said, clearly enjoying teasing her. "He's not the only one here, you know."
Just as Renjun finished speaking, Narae's attention was pulled to another corner of the room where a familiar laugh caught her ear. Her eyes widened slightly as she spotted Haechan, who was standing with Taeyong and Jungwoo, hyping them up as they took turns downing shots. His energy was infectious, and even from across the room, Narae could sense the vibrant atmosphere he brought with him.
To her surprise, her heart skipped a beat as she took in the sight of him. Haechan looked more attractive than usual tonight, his smile bright and his presence commanding. She wasn't sure why, but something about him seemed to draw her in, making it impossible to look away.
