"Wake up, lazy." Michael tossed the notebook he picked up from the desk next to him onto Madeline's blanket-covered form in the bed, earning a yelp from the girl.
"Ugh," the blonde groaned, rolling over onto her side and pulling her hand out from beneath the covers to flip her twin brother off. "Fuck off..."
Michael rolled his eyes, yanking the duvet off from his sister's pajama-clad body and scowling down at her with crossed arms. He's not very intimidating. "You have ten seconds to get out of bed or I will tell mom you're gonna skip your first day." the boy threatened, starting to count down from ten and grabbing Madeline's arm to pull her up onto her feet when he hit zero.
"Michael!" she whined dramatically, sliding down onto her knees on the floor and collapsing onto her front when he let go of her. "Fucks sake, you can't just drag me up like that!"
"Maddie..." he gave her a disapproving look, the corners of his lips quirked down into a slight frown. "Come on, you're being dramatic."
"I'm being dramatic? You just woke me up by throwing a book at me just because I wasn't up at seven o'clock sharp!" Madeline retorted, causing her brother to scoff. Standing up, she dusted off her clothes before stretching her arms above her head, her gaze still firmly fixed on Mike's prim and proper already-uniform-wearing form.
"Whatever, just get out of here and let me get ready," Maddie grumbled, putting her hands on Michael's back and starting to push him toward the door. "Bye." she said firmly before slamming the door in his face.

"Dude, get over it." Chen spoke, nudging Oliver, who was staring down at his phone, with his elbow while chewing his gum obnoxiously. "You haven't even met her, you just found her 'cause Sayuri follows her on Instagram."
Oliver shot his best friend a glare before shutting off his phone and sinking back in his seat. "And? She's my dream girl," he murmured sulkily, his strong arms crossed over his chest.
"Dream girl? How is she your dream girl? You don't even know anything about her." Chen scoffed, clapping his friend on the back before wrapping his arm around his shoulders. "Look, she's just not into you! If she was, she would've messaged you back."
"Well, that makes me feel better." Oliver muttered, scowling at his shoes with a pouting expression on his face. Chen sighed in defeat, patting the shorter boy on the head. "Oli, you're a good looking guy. One girl not responding to your dm isn't the end of the world, okay?"
Before Oliver could reply, the door to the classroom pushed open, and a blonde girl stepped into the room. Oliver shot up in his seat, his eyes widening at the sight. "Chen. That's her. Go sit somewhere else." he said in an uncharacteristically tense tone, shoving his friend away.
"What the fuck?" Chen's dark eyebrows furrowed at the shove from Oliver, looking incredibly offended. "Why?"
"Please, Chen, just go!" Oliver pleaded, pushing his friend to his feet to free the seat for the new girl—his dream girl.

Madeline walked into the foreign classroom, glancing around at the students sitting at the rows of desks filling the space. It was bigger than the classrooms at her old school, lighter and brighter with the wall of windows looking out at the view of the lake from the back of the building. She headed to the desk up front to greet the teacher, a sweet looking woman who Madeline assumed to be in her forties.
"Ah, you must be Madeline Nash!" the woman said cheerily, giving the girl a sweet smile while shaking her hand. "I'm Mrs. Wilton, it's nice to meet you."
Mrs. Wilton showed Madeline where she could take a seat, at a desk right next to a boy she introduced as Oliver Burnham. Brown eyes, buzzcut, piercings, Madeline assessed. He seemed okay, she thought. Hopefully he won't bother her.
Madeline sat down at her new desk, hanging her bag up on the hook on the side of the table. When she looked up again, there was a note lying in front of her. Her eyebrows furrowed at the sight and she hesitantly reached out to grab it. She unfolded the white, lined paper and scanned the text. "did you get my message? u didn't reply :("
She glanced over at the boy in the seat next to her, seeing a nervous grin break out on his face. Madeline gave him a confused look before looking back down at the paper to write her message back. "Where'd you message me?" she wrote neatly underneath the messy scribble of words written by the boy.
She slid the note back to the boy Mrs. Wilton had said was called Oliver and watched as he read it through before turning the paper around and beginning to scribble on it with his pen—which had a cute little cat figurine attached to the top.
"instagram :3" Madeline read, scouring her brain to remember if she had gotten any messages on her Instagram recently before she eventually spotted the username written underneath. "@kittypuke" she grimaced, looking slightly disgusted.
Though the username was kind of gross in her opinion, she did remember someone with that name following her on the platform. She took out her phone and opened up Instagram, checking her DM's. Oh... There was an unread message from yesterday.
