Cause You're My Zing

Chapter 4

Daniel and Mavis are on a plane to Paris. Mavis's head rests on Daniel's shoulder, having fallen asleep not long before, while Daniel tries to watch a film but falls asleep slowly, having not slept much at the hotel.

An hour later, he felt someone shaking him along with a voice.

"Wake up, Daniel wake up."

Daniel open his eyes and smiled at Mavis, who was now facing him. "Hey..."

Mavis smiled. "We're here."

"Okay, let's go, we'll stay at my uncle's family home."

"He won't mind?" Mavis asked, as they stood up from their seats and began to make their way out of the plane.

"No, he won't, since he's already told me I can use his place instead of the hotel."

It wasn't long before they collected their luggage and left the airport, but not before Daniel had subtly applied the spell to Mavis so that the sun wouldn't affect her. Daniel then hailed a cab to take them to a place near the house, during the ride, Mavis looked all around in fascination. They soon arrive at their destination, he pays the driver and picks up their luggage as they start to head for the house, since it's only a 10-minute walk from where they are.

Once they arrive at the house, Daniel has to register Mavis in the ward before they can enter. Then they go inside and start unpacking, as they'll be staying for at least a week, if not two. Once that's done, Mavis and Daniel settle down on the sofa.

"What do you want to do?" Daniel asked, as he checks his watch. "We still have time for sightseeing, or would you prefer to stay at home today and relax?"

"How about we go for a small walk, then come back and relax? Since we're going to be here for a while."

They left soon after, and barely 5 minutes later, Daniel found himself being dragged around by his girlfriend whenever she found something fascinating, all the while asking him questions. He responded without complaint, finding it amusing, and he couldn't help but smile at seeing her eyes sparkle with excitement every time she found something interesting.

As Mavis looks at dresses through a window, Daniel spots something on a nearby pole.

"Hey, Mavis, come look at this" Daniel called out.

"What is it?"

"There's a carnival starting tomorrow, what do you think about going there for our first date?" Daniel asked.

Mavis smiled brightly. "Oooh! That sound amazing!" She claps a little in excitement, which makes him chuckle.

They carry on with their walk and, about an hour later, return home. Once home, they make themselves comfortable and decide to watch a film on Daniel's laptop before going to sleep.

The next day, they woke up a little later because of jet lag, and Mavis decided to shower first while Daniel goes to make breakfast. After a good breakfast, it was Daniel's turn to shower and get ready for the day, while Mavis played on his phone. Shortly afterwards, they left the house and Daniel called a cab to take them to their first destination, Versailles.

Once there, instead of going inside and being crowded in by the other tourists, Daniel decides to rent bikes to ride around the Grand Canal. It was a fun experience for both of them, but especially for Mavis, after which they decided to go for ice cream.

Timeskip...

It is now evening and Mavis and Daniel have just arrived at the carnival. The street was bustling and full of people, with games, lots of vendors and a few rides. They walked around, and like yesterday, Mavis dragged him along whenever she spotted something she found fascinating, they even brought caramel apples.

Shortly afterwards, an excited Mavis dragged Daniel to a haunted house. As they walk through the house, they are first startled by a clown jumping in front of them, causing them to laugh. Then they encounter a vampire which causes Mavis to burst out laughing at the sight.

"Holy Rabies! He looks like dad!" Mavis laughed into Daniel's chest.

"I don't think he would appreciate being compared to a puppet."

They continued on their way, nothing really frightening them but having a lot of fun. As they kept going, they came across other monsters such as Frankenstein, a werewolf, a mummy and a few ghosts. Towards the end, they walked through a dark corridor, where scary noises could be heard. Suddenly, there's a flash of lightning and a clap of thunder, as a zombie jumps in front of them, startling them. Soon after, they came out of the haunted house laughing.

"This was so much fun." Mavis said. "Can we go on another?"

"Sure, we have enough time to do a couple more.." Daniel replied.

"Alright! Let's go, go, go!" Mavis exclaimed as she once again dragged Daniel away. As they head for the next rides, they suddenly heard someone called out to them.

"Hey you, with the pretty girl!" Daniel looked around before pointing to himself. "Yeah you, how about winning something for your girlfriend?"

Daniel wasn't sure knowing how much of a scam these carnival games were, but seeing the excitement on his girlfriend's face at the prospect of winning a stuffed plush, he figured it was worth a try.

"Sure." Daniel replied, as he approaches the booth.

After learning the rule, he starts to throw his first ball, but unfortunately misses. Mavis kept encouraging him, which seemed to do the trick as he didn't miss the next two to win the game, he then let Mavis choose the plush she wanted, and she chose a cute little bat plush. They both walk off towards the Ferris wheel, with smiles on their faces, while Mavis hugs the little plushie close to her chest.

But before they reach the Ferris wheel, Daniel spots a photo booth. He starts to pull her towards it, taking her by surprise.

"Ah! What's going on? I thought we were going on the Ferris wheel?" Mavis asked.

"I know, but I saw a photo booth and thought we could memorize our first date with a photo."

Mavis smiles at the idea and they enter the booth, Daniel pays and they start taking pictures, they make silly faces and end up with a photo of them kissing. They carried on, but unfortunately, once they arrived, they had to wait in line for some time before being allowed to embark the Ferris wheel. After a while, they finally got into one of the carriages and started ascending.

"The view is beautiful up here." Mavis said, once they're high enough.

"Yeah, it is." Daniel agreed.

Mavis suddenly starts to shiver a little, which Daniel notices and he takes off his jacket to put it around her shoulders. Mavis thanked him, which made him smile. He put an arm around her shoulder and kissed her on the forehead.

"I had such a wonderful time today." Mavis sighed as she cuddle closer to him.

"Ditto, since I spent it with the woman I love."

Mavis blushed. "I love you."

"I love you too."

They smiled at each other and began to lean toward each other, their lips met, and Mavis wrapped her arms around Daniel's neck, as she closed her eyes. Daniel kissed her back as he put his right arm around her waist. In the background, fireworks went off, illuminating the night sky as they continued kissing....
