❝You have ice powers?❞ Adam asked shocked.
Taelyn turned around, laughing as she looked back at her hand. She looked at him, confused. ❝What? You've never seen a girl with ice powers before?❞

The next day, Taelyn walked into school with her head held high, but there was a storm brewing in her eyes. She wasn't in the mood to pretend everything was okay. Mimi and Steven, standing by their lockers, spotted her and immediately rushed over, their expressions a mix of concern and guilt.
"Hey, Tae, can we talk?" Mimi started, her voice softer than usual. "About yesterday—"
Taelyn shot her a cold, dismissive glance and kept walking, not even slowing down. Steven tried to intercept her, stepping in front of her path. "Look, Taelyn, we didn't mean to—"
"Save it," Taelyn cut him off, her tone sharp as a blade. "I've heard enough from you two to last a lifetime."
Mimi looked down, fidgeting with the strap of her backpack, while Steven sighed, running a hand through his hair. They had been trying to apologize since the incident yesterday, but Taelyn wasn't having any of it. They made her feel terrible, and she wasn't ready to let that go. Not yet.
Just then, Adam appeared from the crowd like a lifeline. Without a word, he slid his arm around Taelyn's shoulders and guided her away from the awkward confrontation. "Come on, let's get out of here," he murmured.
Taelyn let out a breath she didn't realize she'd been holding. "Finally, someone with a brain," she said with a sarcastic smirk. "I was starting to think I was surrounded by idiots."
Adam chuckled softly. "Well, you know what they say—takes one to know one."
Taelyn rolled her eyes but couldn't help the small smile tugging at her lips. "Ha, ha, very funny, genius. Now, can you get me away from them before I actually lose it?"
"Already on it," Adam replied, steering her towards a quieter part of the hallway. "I've got your back, Tae. Always."
As they walked away, Taelyn felt a little of the tension leave her shoulders. Adam had this way of making her feel like she wasn't so alone, even when she was at her angriest.

Taelyn walked downstairs to the lab trying to forget her friends. She didn't want to get hurt anymore and if she didn't let go she might.
"Okay, now we'll check your bionic reflexes. First the left arm." Donald said.
"Ohh!" Adam said having his lit.
"Okay, now the right arm," Donald instructed.
"Ohh! Oh, I hate this game!" Adam groaned.
She smirked, crossing her arms. "But I love this game."
"Okay, Adam. Well, you can sit this one out. I'll just do Bree and Chase." Donald said.
