"Rosemary Quinn Stark! You are going to be late for school! Get down here this instant!" The familiar voice of Tony Stark called. I reluctantly pulled myself out of bed, getting dressed in record time. Today was my first day at Midtown High School, and my dad wanted to make sure I got there on time. I wish my dad and I had similar thoughts on school. "ROSEMARY!!" My father yelled. "Coming!" I replied, grabbing my phone, AirPods, backpack, and computer. I shoved my phone and AirPods into my pocket and my computer in my backpack. I then grabbed a slice of bread as I made my way out the door.
As I got driven to school, I looked at my phone, opening Spotify as I put in my AirPods, playing "Fifteen" by Taylor Swift. As I walked through the doors, I avoided making eye contact with anyone. Per usual, when I walked in, the familiar whispers of "That's Tony's Stark's daughter" and "That's Rosemary Stark" flowed around me as I walked. I wasn't in the mood to deal with them right now, as I had somewhere to be: my locker.
When I got there, a boy was staring at me. "You got a problem?" I asked, tossing my brown hair over one shoulder. The boy looked at me. He looked like he was around my age and he was cute, in a boyish way. He had brown hair and eyes and light skin. And he looked vaguely familiar. "So you're Mr. Stark's kid." Who was this boy to mention my dad like that? "Excuse me?" I asked, annoyed. The boy's eyes widened. "Oh! I'm sorry, I didn't introduce myself, which is very rude of me because we only just met and..." His voice trailed off as I looked at him with an eyebrow raised. "I'm Peter Parker. I work with your dad," He said, running a hand through his hair. I cocked my head to one side. "Then how come I haven't seen you before?" Peter looked up at me. "Because I... I don't necessarily go to Stark Tower often. I'm his Protegee, and when I'm there, you usually aren't. But he talks about you a lot. Your dad, that is." I rolled my eyes. "Of course he does." I grinned. "I'm Rosemary, but you can call me Rose." "I know," Peter said, and then his eyes widened again. "Oh God, that sounded creepy, didn't it? What I meant to say is, I know, your dad told me your name. In the most uncreepy way possible!" He added, as if defending himself. I looked at him, an eyebrow raised. "Is uncreepy even a word." Peter shrugged. "I actually have no clue. Grammer isn't my strong suit." I laughed, "I think I'm going to like you, Peter Parker."
As I got to know Peter throughout the day, I began to care less about what people were saying about me. Peter made that easier for me, for reasons I couldn't possibly explain. As we walked to the cafeteria for lunch, I marveled at how spacious this school was. I'd never gone to school in person before, I'd been home schooled up until this point. But my first in person school experience hadn't been bad so far. That is, until I unfortunately met Flash Thompson.
"Peter Parker!" He boomed, his voice reverberating throughout the room as everyone stopped what they were doing to pay attention to him. I froze, turning around too. "Just ignore him, Rose," Peter said, giving me a supportive smile. I crossed my arms, looking at Flash unimpressed. "And Rosemary Stark!" Flash added, "To what do I owe you the honor?" I decided that I already hate this guy. "Look, don't you have somewhere else to be, like perhaps, your Daddy Dearest's yacht or house in the Hamptons? Wherever it is, it sure isn't picking on a kid who's obviously a million times better than you, right?" Flash glared at me. "Maybe you should try to earn your Daddy Dearest's respect more often, so maybe you won't have to hang out with middle-class freaks like Parker over here." I rolled my eyes, "Oh, please, as if you'd even know what to do with me."
When I was done, Peter looked at me in awe. "You really didn't have to do that, you know." I smiled softly, "I know, but I handle his type all the time at events and shit like that." Peter and I exchanged a look that lasted too long until a boy came up. "Peter!" He gasped, obviously out of breath, "I'm sorry I'm late amd- woah." Peter blushed, looking away. "Rose, Ned. Ned, Rose-" "Yeah, I already know who she is," Ned interrupted, "She's Rosemary Stark, Tony Stark's daughter. She's even more beautiful than you said she is! Does she know you're-" Peter gave him a look that silenced him. I blushed, looking anywhere but at Peter. "Wow, Peter, honestly, I'm flattered." I burst into a fit of giggles. "No one's ever said that about me before! they're always like, 'what's it like being Tony's kid?' and things like that. It's nice to switch it up for a change." Peter nodded, as if under a spell of sorts. "Peter?" "What? Oh, you're welcome." This boy's awkwardness was both charming and absolutely adorable. If only he knew...

When I got home, I danced around my room, blushing. "He's so cute!" I giggled until I collapsed on the ground out of dizziness. When I overcame such dizziness, I made my way into the kitchen, where Peter and my Dad were talking. "Mr. Stark?" Peter asked, ever the gentleman, "Does your daughter know?" Tony shook his head. What were they hiding from me? "No, kid, she doesn't know. I thinks it's best for her if she doesn't." Peter's eyes widened when he saw me in the doorway, my arms crossed. "She's right there." Tony looked at Peter as if he was crazy. "How do you even know what she- holy fuck she is right there." Tony looked between Peter and I. "Peter, this is my daughter who I told you about-" "I know!" Peter exclaimed, earning a stern look from my dad. "What I meant to say is, I know, I met her at school today and showed her around a bit." We exchanged a look as he corrected himself. "Hi, Rose, how are you?" I smiled politely. "I'm good, not much, but I do need some help on my homework." Peter's eyes lit up. "Oh! I'll help you!"
As we worked on my homework, I smiled to myself, never knowing what it was like to have a friend like Peter. I felt like a schoolgirl with the way my heart leapt at the thought of them being friends. Everything seemed too good to be true. It must be just a dream. But I knew better than that, fore I was a fifteen year old girl, not the star of a romance movie or novel. All I wanted was for Peter to understand me and to tell me his secret, I wanted him to trust me like I trusted him. But somethings are just too good to be true, after all, and best left untouched.
A/N: I'm so so so so sorry for the short chapter. I promise that chapter two will be longer. And more songs will be added for that one, too. Keep an eye on the playlist, I will always be adding songs to it. It's going to be on Spotify asap, and when it is, I'll make sure to make an announcement. Also, keep in tune with my socials for Starker updates.
