There were two things Alysanne Velaryon was sure of.

One: She had been hit over the head by Aemond with a rock. It had hurt.

Two: The last thing she remembered was Queen Alicent slashing her mother's arm.

And now she was waking up in Driftmark or Dragonstone. She couldn't tell, but based on the lack of dragon decor carved into the walls, she was still on Driftmark.

The salt in the air did little but confuse her. It smelled overly briny today. She wasn't sure how long she'd been out. The sun was up now, so a few hours at most.

"Mother! Mother!" Lucerys screamed, standing from his seat beside the bed. He dashed from the room, not bidding Alysanne hello.

Alysanne lifted her fingers to her head, gently rubbing over the small scabs. Before she knew it, her mother was in the room, inspecting her from head to toe. Rhaenyra's eyes searched every part of Alysanne's face, in her hair line, down her neck and arms. She placed the back of her hand upon Alysanne's brow to feel for fever.

"Luke, go-"

"Maester!" He screamed, running through the halls.

"How do you feel, my girl?"

"Fine. I don't appreciate the screaming." She frowned. "Did you bathe me?"

"Yes. And changed your clothing."

She was no longer wearing her white silk. She was in blue.

"Alysanne, before you get up, I need to speak with you." Her mother rarely got serious like this.

"Did the Queen kill Jace?" She asked immediately.

"What? No." Her mother sighed with a giggle. "But, your father."

"What about father? She killed him?"

"No, the Queen did not kill anyone." Rhaenyra sighed again. "Your father was killed in an accident."

"What?"

"Your father was killed in an accident."

"What kind of accident?"

"A quarrel. Ser Qarl wished your father to return to the stepstones. He refused, while you were in a state, and lost. He fell into the fire and perished, my sweet girl."

Rhaenyra wasn't lying. She was bending the truth. Someone had fallen into the fire, it just wasn't Laenor. Ser Qarl did demand that Laenor return to the stepstones. Instead they moved to Pentos, to give Rhaenyra and her children a fighting chance at claiming her throne.

To give Alysanne the best shot at surviving Alicent Hightowers tirade. To be lovers freely, rich men with no allegiances.

Alysanne's tears came quickly. They spilled over her cheeks freely. She allowed it as she cried and cried into her mothers arms.
