After noon, the sun slipped through the clouds and shadows fell over the garden. As the sunlight disappeared, the temperature felt quite cool, so they entered the mansion.

What came after a short break was work. Judith headed to the study to review and organize the budget items.

The family’s mistress had the authority to manage the budget, and even Derrick Vaisil, whom she had a bad relationship with, delegated this to her. It was proof that even if he could not recognize her as his wife, he would recognize her as his Duchess.

Of course, that didn’t mean he was affectionate enough to act gently such as informing her about things she didn’t know. It was not her husband but the butler who helped Judith perfectly manage her budget as a Duchess. He didn’t have any expectations, so he didn’t feel sorry for her.

It was a time when she was carefully looking at the numbers written on the documents.

Tak.

She heard a knock on the window behind her desk. Judith flinched at the noise that broke her concentration, turned her head, and saw a black-haired boy standing outside the window. It wasn’t difficult to find out who it was. It was the beast devil, Karman, who sometimes came in the form of a crow, and sometimes in the form of a human.

Judith was a little surprised that he came to see her and not Derrick, so she tilted her head as she opened the window.

“The Commander, is he here?”

“No, he is downstairs…”

She thought he would go if she answered that way, but unexpectedly, Karman breathed a sigh of relief and entered the study. Judith blinked slowly at the unexpected behavior that followed his sudden appearance.

“Isn’t the Commander angry with me?”

Judith shook her head because she hadn’t heard anything about it from Derrick.

Could it be that he did something to Derrick without her knowledge? She was curious, but she couldn’t bear to ask because she was a stranger and was cautious about her questions. Instead, Judith looked at him with a sharp gaze.

As expected, he looked so similar that it was believable if he was Derrick’s son. As she examined his pretty, doll-like features, her eyes fell on the center of his dark black hair. His horns, which weren’t there the last time she met him in her office, had sprouted again.

It was only when Karman lifted his hand and touched the black horn that she realized what she was looking at. It was like a part of the body to him, so he didn’t even realize that it was unfamiliar to her as a human being.

“Last time, I was sure…”

“The Commander said we shouldn’t be found out by humans, so we hid it for a while.”

Certainly, it was a feature so foreign that it would be bothersome if people noticed it.

“By the way, Lucas was here, right?”

If it’s Lucas, he’s probably referring to the devil who visited last night. Judith nodded, recalling the devil’s not-so-good impression.

Karman washed his face dry as if it was as expected. Although he looked like a child, his actions were as mature as those of an adult.

“D@mn, why did he come here… Did he, possibly, cause some kind of commotion?”

Unfortunately, it was just as he expected. Lucas tremendously caused a commotion, and Judith was caught up in it and suffered damage. She didn’t want to talk about yesterday, but at this point, she had no choice but to ask.
