SKYLAR
We spend the next few days laying low and camping in alleyways. The pets are annoying like Dylan speculated they would be, but they aren't as annoying as they were at first. I even let the Pomeranian, Maisy, sleep near my feet.
We've been travelling a lot, but not outside Utah. I mean, we've crossed states a little, but nothing much. The plan is to wait until something new comes up- maybe a cyclone or some other natural disaster- and strike when everyone has their heads turned.
Daniel was right- compared to what our living conditions have been like lately, the van was luxurious. So far, we've had overnight stays in somewhat clean dumpsters and alleyways.
All the news knows is that Mikayla, Finn, and Daniel are on the run with a dog, cat, and two suspected accomplices. So, using Dylans fake IDs, me and him have managed to couch surf as well.
I feel bad, knowing that Mikayla, Finn, and Daniel are likely crouched in an alleyway somewhere while we're taking charity from some do-gooder, but that's just how it is. I manage to sometimes bring breakfast scraps, or dinner leftovers to them.
Although, there is another side to that- because me and Dylan aren't recognised at the moment, we're probably going to have the biggest roles in Brooks breakout. I'll probably still play the hacker- my role is going to be vital, especially as the prisons will be rapidly working to close up the backdoors that me and other hackers often use. But Dylan will probably end up doing something especially high-risk.
From what I've seen in the news, they found our van about an hour after we had abandoned it. Daniel was right, they also searched Mikayla and Finns houses and noted that their pets and clothes were missing.
I'm nervous though. I'm already playing with the law- if anyone finds out what I did, my life is going down in flames.
Brook and Daniel aren't guilty- I am.
And I don't know how long my cover as 'Jude' will last. All it would take is a look on my social media, and they will realise what my name is.
So that why I told them. We were camping out in a dark alleyway for the night. It had been six official days on the run when I explained that I'm Skylar. I used the idea that, seeing Brook and Daniel, I didn't want to reveal my name in case they tried to kill me.
Daniel admitted he would have done the same. Finn didn't seem surprised, if anything a little annoyed for whatever reason. No one else cared.
That's one thing off my chest, I guess.
Now we need to break Brook out.
This should be interesting.
It was day fourteen of being on the run, when Dylan got a message on his phone.
Hi! Listen, I think you should be able to get in through the sewers if you plan on breaking me out. Isnt ideal, but I've made my spare clothes into a rope that I can get down. The toilet is oddly large. Get Jude to hack into the maps and whatnot, she's majoring in ICT so she should be able to. Bye!!
I nod. ''She's smart. I can definitely get those maps and the camera feed, should be easy''
Mikayla frowns though. ''that's amazing, but how did she get that phone? Me and Finn put both Daniel and Brooks phones in their suitcases''
Daniel shrugs. ''Those were our burner phones. I had my actual phone on me in prison as well, I'm surprised none of you noticed that I've been using a different one, or that Dylan and Skylar actually have two contacts of us in their phones. I snuck mine in underneath a wig. They shaved my head, but that was only my wig, so my hair remains''
Mikayla nods. ''I thought you looked different, but I assumed that was the lighting. Do you think Brook would have snuck hers in through a wig as well?''
Daniel shrugs. ''Probably. I don't know. But she's already took a risk through sending that message, I don't think she would be checking her notifications anytime soon. It's up to us now''
