You can do it, Yeonjun.

I repeated it to myself, hoping that if I did it many times, I would eventually start to believe it. Unfortunately, the huge lump in my throat was still there and my stomach was in such a knot that I couldn't even swallow water. I had been going to a new school for a month, and each time I was stressed as if it were my first day. I had friends, mostly cheerleaders, who I joined after about two weeks as soon as they found out that I also cheered at my previous school, so in theory I should be chill.

Well, only in theory, because in practice it was only harder every day. I took a deep breath, knowing I couldn't drag this moment on forever. I forced my legs to move and as soon as I took the first step, everything went smoothly. The building was huge and the impression only intensified when you were in the corridor. Even though it had been a while since I first came here, I still didn't know most of the nooks and crannies. I only learned enough to not get lost while walking from the needed room to another, to know where to eat, leave my things and do my business.

"Yeonjun!" A loud scream echoed throughout the corridor, and I tried to hide from the watchful eyes, but failed miserably, because Beomgyu, regardless of my embarrassment, lunged at me, almost knocking me off my feet. "I was already afraid you wouldn't show up. You usually show up way ahead of schedule, so what kept you today?!"

"Do you always have to draw so much attention to yourself?" I hissed, moving away. Gyu pursed his lip, greatly offended. He could have faked it in front of others, but I had known him for so many years that I definitely wasn't fooled. "Mom didn't want to let me go on the bus. She had a dream that there was going to be an accident, you know how she is. I wouldn't be surprised if she said she read it from the tea leaves." I rolled my eyes. I loved my mother and she was the most important woman in my life, but her beliefs in superstitions, horoscopes and other such nonsense were simply annoying in the long run.

"And you didn't even bother to tell me about it?! You know that very often what your mother says comes true. What if we really had an accident? You would lose your best cousin above the sun!"

"And that would be so bad because?" I asked, completely seriously. Gyu yelped in surprise, and before I could react, his fist was already colliding with my shoulder, certainly causing a large bruise there.

"You're the worst! I still don't know why I keep hanging out with you."

"Maybe because you don't have any other friends?"

"That's not right, I have friends!"

"Imaginary ones don't count." I moved towards the lockers with Gyu, although still outraged, right behind me.

"You're such a dick, you know that?" He asked, but didn't expect an answer because he continued as if nothing had happened. "When you came to this school, I made you try to get back to your passion and I introduced you to everyone, so you should be grateful to me!"

"So you're the reason the cheerleaders found out I can dance and are flexible?"

"You didn't know? Oops." He shrugged, not looking concerned. The little criminal knew perfectly well that I couldn't really get angry at him and he took full advantage of it. "Otherwise I'd have to teach you how to play volleyball, and that's too much trouble."

"First learn thoroughly yourself, and then offer to teach others."

"My God, why are you so mean today?" The man sighed, although I suspected he knew perfectly well that I could normally afford more.

"A day like every other day." I slammed the locker shut, feeling like all my nerves had left me. I could say a lot of bad things about Choi Beomgyu, but he definitely knew what to say and when to make me feel better. Therefore, when my mother suggested that I transfer to his school, I did not hesitate even for a minute. In the previous one, I didn't have any friends after that event that went crazy a few months ago...

"Are we going to class?"

"Do we really have to?" I whined miserably, shouldering my backpack. Gyu laughed, pulling my arm.

"Don't exaggerate, it won't be that bad!" Without a chance to protest, I sighed and followed him, only thinking about what I could do after all my classes were over.
