"M-Mother! I can't breathe!" You gasp out as your mother tightens your corset.

"If you can talk, you can breathe!" Your mother snaps. "There! We will marry you off. You're not as thin as I'd like, but we can con him for now."

"I told you! I'm already betrothed to him, and he loves me for my size!" You snap, yelping when the back of her hand strikes your cheek.

"He did not ask for your father's permission. Therefore he cannot claim you as his betrothed!" She snaps at you. "His money is not guaranteed unless we make you as desirable as possible. Until he has laid with you he can cast you off as nothing."

"Look at all he's already provided!" You spit back. "I've met him without the corsets. He knows how I look and he loves me for it! He doesn't care about looks!"

"Then he's blind! No one will want to show off a wife as fat as you! He won't lay a hand on you the second you're naked!" Your mother retorts.

"Have you forgotten he's already seen me in a bathing suit?" You snap in reply. "He proposed three days after that!"

"You think he likes you for your looks? You're mistaken. He has a lot to gain if he saves your father's printing company. He has money because he's a noble, but all nobles simply desire gain in their partnerships. Nothing more." She replies. "As a writer he won't have to pay for printing his books if he own his own printing press."

"We don't even know how high he falls on the list of nobles," Your father replies, entering your room. "There will be beautiful ladies from all over the kingdom present for his ball tonight. His eyes and feelings will stray. Don't get your hopes up."

"Why must you two think so little of me?" You growl softly, crashing to the floor when your father's hand strikes your cheek. Your eyes widening when he grabs you by the throat and pins you to the wall.

"You have been nothing but trouble from the moment you were born. Unusual and fat. You should be grateful we're ensuring you marry this man. If he leaves you'll be out on the streets." He snarls into your face. "The king is to be present at the party. Stay hidden and out of the way so your sister has the best chance and winning his eye. You'll just be a stain on her reputation."

He releases you before he and your mother leave the room, leaving you to finish getting ready on your own. You look in the mirror, grimacing when you see the cut from your father's ring going across your cheek and the bruises around your neck. Dang it. Slenderman is not going to be happy about this. Not that it matters to you. All of the pain is worth it if you get to be with him. You shake away your worries and finish getting dressed, changing around a few of your different pieces more to your liking. Most of which you've made yourself. The few you haven't are gifts from Slenderman.

He's a writer, and royalty of some kind. He's never said which. He tried to hide it your first date, but you figured out his mannerisms pretty quickly. You love to read after all. He's given you a few paper copies he's put together, all carefully typed out by a typewriter. Your father is right, he would benefit from a printing press, but your father's has been abandoned and failed. He would have to put way more money than he will likely ever make into it. However, it's not why he's marrying you.

The gossip has been flowing for months about the two of you. Some unknown royal with a massive fortune is courting the daughter of a printing press owner. Of a family that was about to go bankrupt until he came along. About how this handsome creature in a suit is interested in the fat abomination everyone likes to call you. Slender is handsome, and you're not human, but you may as well be with how weak you are. Your family has always done well at levitation magic. It's how your father made his fortune.
