It was a chilly night during the class excursion, and the group of students, restless and adventurous, decided to explore beyond their planned path. Led by John and Gabriel, a small group ventured away from the others, leaving their guardian far behind. Among them were Anna, the class rep, and Maria, along with a few other classmates. Their excitement and curiosity pushed them deeper into the forest, oblivious to the danger that lay ahead.
As they walked further into the woods, the sun began to sink beneath the horizon. The air grew heavier, the trees twisted into eerie shapes, and strange, haunting sounds filled the silence. Footsteps echoed behind them, though when they turned, no one was there. Gabriel suggested they take pictures of the forest, but when they pulled out their phones and snapped the first few shots, they found nothing on the screen. Just darkness.
Confused, John snapped another picture. This time, they saw something—a blurry figure hovering behind the trees. When they adjusted the camera, they saw the image clearly: a ghost, glaring at them with hollow eyes and a twisted, furious expression. The group froze in terror.
“What is that?” Maria whispered, her voice trembling.
They looked around, but there was no sign of the ghost anywhere in the real world—only in their phone cameras. John, Gabriel, Maria, and Anna started backing away slowly, but the moment they lifted the camera again, the ghost appeared, closer now, its face contorted with rage.
Suddenly, the ghost spoke, its voice a chilling hiss in the wind. “No one comes into my territory and leaves free. You are lucky you came in groups. So tell me, who will you sacrifice to me? Or shall I take all of you?”
Fear spread like wildfire. The students’ faces paled as they realized the gravity of the situation. They were trapped. And the ghost was demanding a sacrifice.
The group exchanged frantic glances, each looking for a way out. Finally, one of the boys, trembling with fear, pointed at Anna. “I… I’m sacrificing Anna. She’s the smartest girl in our class, and she acts so proud because of it.”
Another classmate, emboldened by the first, spoke up. “Yeah, Anna is the class rep. She always writes down our names when we make noise, so we get punished. She deserves it.”
One by one, the students nodded in agreement. The fear of being taken by the ghost was too strong, and they turned on Anna, their classmate who had always been the best among them.
Anna stood there, tears streaming down her face, her heart breaking as her friends—people she had trusted—chose her as the sacrifice. She pleaded with them, begging the ghost for mercy, but it was too late. With a final, cold laugh, the ghost grabbed Anna, and in a flash, she vanished into the darkness.
The remaining students were suddenly back on the familiar path, the forest behind them. They made their way to the school bus in silence, too afraid to tell anyone what had happened. They acted as if nothing was wrong, though guilt hung heavy in the air. But the forest had not forgotten, and neither had Anna.
That night, as the students lay in bed, something strange happened. Each of them woke to the sight of Anna standing in their room—only she wasn’t the same Anna they had known. She looked like a ghost herself, her eyes cold and filled with a deep sadness. Her voice echoed through their minds as she spoke, "You betrayed me. You all chose me to die. But now, I have come for the truth. Speak it, or I will haunt you forever."
One by one, the children screamed in terror, but none dared to tell the truth to anyone. The days passed, and every night, Anna’s ghost returned to torment them. She appeared in their dreams, in their mirrors, and even when they closed their eyes. The fear grew unbearable. Their schoolwork suffered, and their health began to decline. But still, no one confessed.
On the seventh day, something changed. Just as they were about to break and confess the truth, Anna reappeared in the village—not as the ghost that haunted them, but as herself, alive, and more beautiful than ever. She seemed smarter, stronger, almost untouchable. Her return sent shockwaves through the town.
Everyone was stunned. How had Anna survived? What had happened to her in that dark forest?
Anna revealed the truth. “I know you all betrayed me. You sacrificed me to the ghost. But I was saved by something far greater. And now, I have only one friend—the one who took me that night.”
The students were speechless, guilt and horror written on their faces. Anna, now distant and detached from them, no longer made friends with her classmates. Instead, she spoke only to the ghost—the very one they had feared.
From that day on, Anna was never the same. She had been betrayed by her friends, but she had gained a new, powerful ally. The ghost had spared her, and in doing so, had forged an unbreakable bond between them. As for the others, they lived in the shadow of their betrayal, knowing they had sacrificed their friend, only to see her return more powerful than ever before.
