5.3 Future In-law

When the school forum was getting heated as the ever-cold school grass suddenly got into a relationship rumor, the parties involved were in their own pink bubble world.

As they left the school gate, many pairs of scrutinizing eyes were on them, specifically the Beta next to the outstanding Alpha.

"That's him? He looks so... normal."

"Then what about that Omega? I heard that when he transferred to class 10-A, he got pretty close with the school grass."

"Although it is a bit of a mismatch, they somehow look... very compatible."

"Yeah... they actually do."

Xie An did not care much about the surrounding murmuring, he had spend too many years living in rumors and scrutiny that these kids hardly fazed him.

On the other hand, Chang Ru, who usually had a cool face, was nervous with his tightened jaw and frowning brows.

It could be easily mistaken that Chang Ru was feeling regret or ashamed for walking next to an ordinary Beta, but Xie An knew his lover and there was no way his lover would think that about him.

Chang Ru was probably feeling nervous walking with his first time crush as well as being worried that the gossip might affect Xie An's decision of getting together with him.

Xie An silently chuckled, feeling amused to see his ever-strong and confident lover turning out to be so innocent!

If it was his usual lover, he would already be all over Xie An, not like this shy high schooler that did not even dare to hold Xie An's hand.

They walked for a while in silence as the murmuring of the students started to fade away

Chang Ru opened his mouth a few times, like he wanted to say something, but ended up swallowing it back down.

Xie An glanced sideways and raised an eyebrow. "If you frown any harder, your face might get stuck."

Chang Ru blinked. "...Sorry."

Xie An let out a small laugh. "Why are you apologizing?"

"I just..." Chang Ru hesitated, then confessed in a low voice, "I've never liked anyone before. And I'm not very good at this. I don't want to scare you away."

Xie An tilted his head and laughed. "There is no way I would be scared of you. You're... my destined one."

Although the original Xie An was a Beta, he still had compulsory lessons about ABO biology, just in case if there would be any late bloomers.

It was said that there was a special connection in this world, usually only present between an Alpha and an Omega, they called it 'destined one' where they would be instantly attracted to each other and connected on levels that no other could understand.

Even if Xie An was only a Beta, he did not change his mind about them being destined ones.

That made the Alpha stop walking. He turned to face Xie An, finally daring to meet his gaze directly. 

His hand twitched at his side.

After a moment, he reached out, slowly, like he was handling something precious. 

His fingers barely brushed against Xie An's before pulling back.

"Can I...?" Chang Ru asked, voice hoarse.

Xie An smiled, half-teasing, half-earnest. "You can."

So Chang Ru held his hand, gently, like he wasn't holding just a hand but a promise.
