Qin Yaozu soon returned, visibly frustrated. He glared at Luo An before breathing out a sigh. "Ignore her. She doesn't know what she's saying," he mumbled angrily, approaching the bed. "How are you feeling? Does anything hu...." He didn't finish that sentence.
Right... He can't feel pain.
Luo An raised an eyebrow at the sudden pause. "Does anything what?" he asked, confused. "Nothing. Forget it," Qin Yaozu sighed. "Do you feel dizzy? Can you move your arm?" Luo An looked towards his arm, which was now neatly bandaged. He completely forgot that he was injured. He attempted to raise his arm but failed. That was enough to answer the question.
Qin Yaozu gently took a hold of the injured arm, raising it slightly to examine it. "Can you feel it when I touch it?" he asked Luo An who gave him a nod as an answer. He noted that in his mind and continued his examination. "The blade went right through the bone so it'll take some time to heal. You should be fine."
Luo An listened quietly watched, nodding in acknowledgement a few times. Qin Yaozu, looked up at him, for a while actually believing that Luo An was listening to him before noticing that he was just blankly staring at him, no matter what he did. He let out a sigh. It was useless to get mad at Luo An, it wouldn't help anything in the end. Qin Yaozu ended up just quietly walking out which made Luo An finally snap back. He sat there, confused on why Qin Yaozu left until he returned with a bowl of congee, setting it in front of him. "You didn't eat in a long time. It would be useless to treat your injuries when you'll end up dying from starvation," he said as he sat down on a chair nearby. Luo An looked at the bowl before his eyes landed on Qin Yaozu. "Could you feed me? I'm not sure if I can eat with just one functional arm," Luo An asked with big pleading eyes. Qin Yaozu didn't want to give in but Luo An was stubborn and kept staring at him until he gave in and fed him.
Qin Yaozu glared at Luo An the whole time but while he seemed annoyed because of his expression, his ears were turning red. Luo An had a good eye on details so he noticed almost right away. He smirked to himself and gently sucked on the spoon in his mouth, licking it when it was pulled out, making Qin Yaozu freeze in shock with his eyes wide open. He quickly fed him the rest of the congee and left in a hurry. He didn't come back this time, instead of him, the girl from earlier returned with a set of robes.
She set them down and smiled at Luo An. "We didn't get to introduce ourselves yet, right? I'm Yaozu's shimei, Xia Li. How should I call you?" she spoke softly and kindly, more polite than she was with her shixiong. Luo An returned the smile. "Nice to meet you, miss Xia. This lowly one's name is An, surname Luo," he said in the most polite way he could think of. Xia Li chuckled, finding it hilariously, understanding that Luo An was talking this way as a joke so she decided to play along. "I've been tasked with bringing young master Luo these robes, made from the most refined silk in the country by the hands of masters from all over-" Before she could finish her speech, her mouth was covered by Qin Yaozu's hand. "Getting along well I see," he said with a frown. "You two are like copies of each other, both so stupid that your intelligence combined could not compare to a tree branch from the tree outside."
Xia Li pulled away from Qin Yaozu's grasp and snapped back at him: "Hey! I don't know about him but I am very smart! You know that very well!" Qin Yaozu rolled his eyes and pushed her outside. "Yeah, right," he sighed before turning to Luo An. "Get dressed and come outside. My father wants to see you." Luo An was taken aback by that. "Your father? Why does he want to see me?" he asked, confused. "I brought you here and had to get someone to treat you so word got to him," he answered on his way outside. "You better hurry up!"
Luo An let out a sigh and got up, getting dressed as fast as he could with just one arm. He then walked outside where Qin Yaozu was waiting for him. Outside was a garden with a big pond, filled with koi carps. The sight was beautiful and any regular person would be in disbelief as this was one of the most famous places in the cultivation world. Many people heard about how beautiful everything in the Shengkai's sects was. It had many great sceneries that everyone wanted to see at least once before they died.
Instead of shedding a tear from the beauty, Luo An turned his attention to Qin Yaozu who had to wait for him the whole time. Now that he arrived, they headed towards the Niu Hall. The sight Luo An saw just a few moments ago has been soon put to shame the second they stepped inside. There were many golden vases and paintings, one more beautiful than the other. At the end stood a tall man with fur around his shoulders. This man was none other than Qin Yaozu's father, Qin Shihong. He was dressed in the colors as Qin Yaozu and Xia Li but his robes were also embroidered with golden flowers in full bloom.
The second he heard the two approaching, he turned around to face them. From the front, he looked even more divine and his golden robes looked like they were shining. He walked towards them, smiling at Qin Yaozu before turning his gaze towards Luo An.
"Ah, what a beautiful boy my A-Xu has brought here. Is he planning to marry you?"
"Father!" Qin Yaozu looked furious but he couldn't act towards his father the same way as he did with his shimei. Qin Shihong laughed at his reaction.
"Why so angry? You need to find someone to marry soon anyway. You're already 20 years old and still single!"
"He's a man."
"You know I'm just teasing, don't you? In other hand, I wouldn't be surprised if you were really going to marry him. You never showed any interest towards women anyway."
Qin Yaozu was left speechless. Qin Shihong chuckled and left his son be, going for his next victim. "What is this young man's name?" he asked Luo An but before he could get an answer, Qin Yaozu bumped into Luo An's arm. He understood and smiled at Qin Shihong. "The name's Hong Huli," he said confidently. Qin Yaozu was once again left speechless. Could Luo An really not think of a different name other than 'red fox'?
Luckily, Qin Shihong didn't pay it any mind and nodded in acknowledgement. "I heard you were injured, how is your condition now?" Luo An almost forgot about his arm by now. Since he didn't feel the pain, it completely flew out of his mind. "I'm doing good now. I thought it will be the end of me but luckily I was taken care of," he replied. Qinsad Shihong was pleased by that. "Well then, I'm glad it's all good now. Since you and my son seem close, you may stay as long as you need to recover. Just make sure Tianshi doesn't put you in the same state you came here with."
Luo An raised an eyebrow. "Tianshi? Who is that?"
"You didn't meet her yet? I'm sure A-Xu will show her to you soon. She's a good girl."
Qin Yaozu stood by with his arms crossed and sighed. "She indeed is," he mumbled. "Come on now, you need rest."
They said their goodbyes and soon left the Niu Hall, heading back. Luo An stayed quiet until they were almost there before he decided to ask what was on his mind: "Your father dresses so fancy, is he rich?" Qin Yaozu turned to him. "He's the sect leader, what else would he dress like?" Luo An crossed his arms. "And why didn't you tell me that, huh?" he pouted, turning his head away. Qin Yaozu seemed to be in a better mood now so he smiled. "Why should I? We're not close or anything." This made Luo An pout even more but he still had another question to ask. "Why did he call you 'A-Xu?" The question caught Qin Yaozu off guard but it was understandable. "That's my birth name. Yaozu is my courtesy name," he answered. Luo An nodded as they got to their destination but before they stepped inside, he asked another question.
"Who exactly is Tianshi?"
