A/N: Hey everyone! I hope you are all doing well. I apologize for this late update. I meant to publish this chapter last week but I was dealing with a terrible flu and had no energy to write or finish this chapter. So I also apologize if this chapter is no good. But I am much better now and hope to publish more chapters! Thank you for reading! :)
Elenda walked back into the prince's celebration, a frown on her face and tears streaming down her cheeks. She was devastated. But not because he hurt her, he unknowingly did that a long time the day he admitted to loving the Princess. She had long gotten over that but her jealousy still lingered and seeped through the cracks whenever Mason mentioned Rhaenyra.
But her jealousy had returned and even worse now that not one but two children had come out of the affair.
What was she supposed to tell her daughters?
Their father can't see them because he is too busy teaching his sons of royalty sword-fighting and diplomacy in King's Landing. How was that okay?
Rhaenyra noticed almost immediately that Mason was not behind Elenda, trailing behind her like he usually did when he did not feel like talking. She rocked Lucerys in her arms, the little babe was the spitting image of his father. He was all smiles and infatuated with his mother's hair.
She tightened her hold on Luke and made her way out of the throne room.
It did not take long for her to find Mason sitting in that dark chamber by himself—muttering things to himself.
"What's happened?" Rhaenyra asked gently as she rocked Lucerys.
Mason ran his fingers through his wavy hair and sighed, "Elenda's a smart woman. I don't know what I thought was going to happen trying to keep this from her for so long."
"If she wants to blame someone, tell her to blame me," Rhaenyra snapped but Mason laughed.
"She already does." He clicked his tongue, avoiding Rhaenyra's gaze.
Rhaenyra pursed her lips, "Well in that case, I take back what I said."
Mason slammed his hand against the nearby dresser, making a dent in the wood. "Fuck!"
A thought suddenly crossed the Princess's mind. Elenda knows...Her knowledge of the true parentage of her sons was a great risk to her safety as well as the Crown. Even with a little slip of
Elenda's tongue, Rhaenyra and the princes' sense of security would be breached."If she knows, I'm going to have to take her tongue—"
"She won't say anything," Mace quickly interjected.
"How can you be sure?" Rhaenyra spat out.
Mason breathed heavily. This is one of the only things that he could come to his wife's defense on. He steps over to Rhaenyra, stopping right in front of her.
"She was there...the night I slit my brother's throat and was decorated in his blood. She was there. And she has never said a word about it to anyone," He reassured her, putting a gentle hand on her arm and one on her hand that was holding Luke's blanket's together.
"This is something entirely different, Mason," she began, "This is about ours sons...Their very life is at risk. There are people in my father's court who will not hesitate to..."
