"I'm taking you to Hansen," Rod's voice echoed through the halls of my house. I spin around to see her standing in the doorway of the kitchen with her hand on her hip and a stern expression. Her hair is down and messy as if someone previously ruffled it. She looks like a biker girl dressed in a purple leather jacket paired with black jeans.
Thank God my parents aren't home—if they were Rox and I would probably be six feet under.
I narrow my eyes. "How did you get into my house?"
"That doesn't matter," she waved a hand at me dismissively, "what matters is you getting out of her as soon as possible."
Before I can respond she walks out of the kitchen and I hear shuffling towards my bedroom. I quickly catch up with her and see her heading towards my suitcases that I packed for Texas. There's makeup scattered on the floor near my mirror. I used it to cover up the huge bruise on my nose so no one would ask questions.
"You're going to need these when we leave," Rox says as she picks up the suitcases still on my floor by the handles.
"What do you expect me to say to my parents?" I say quietly. I know a part of me doesn't want to tell my parents anything about this and the other part is telling me that they're still my parents and even though they aren't the best I should still have the decency to not just abandon them.
But they'll have the new baby and forget all about me.
I try and block out all my thoughts.
Her gaze fixates on me as if she can tell what I'm thinking. "You don't have to. You can leave a note. Or discuss it with them—I'll wait either way but we still have to hurry up. Odette is getting impatient."
I almost ask her about what Adam told me the other day but I decide against it and take one of the suitcases off her hand and follow her out to a black jeep and she starts to load up my stuff.
She slams the trunk door shut and rubs her hands on her pants. "So what are we going to do?"
I take one last glance at my house.
"Let's just leave."
