ABHIMANYU BIRLA:"I took a deep breath and blurted out the words, 'Actually, he is my friend Akshu!' I couldn't believe I was lying to her, but I felt desperate to protect my relationship with her. I thought to myself, 'God, please help me get out of this situation!'
Her eyes narrowed slightly, and she asked, 'Abhi, I'm sorry, but why don't you work with him? He's your friend, and you both know each other. Why did you work in my dad's office?' I felt my mind go blank, and I stood there, unsure of what to say.
She looked at me with a hint of suspicion and said, 'Abhi, don't mind why I asked this question, but you're hiding something from me. I know you might not want to share, but you can trust me.' I felt my heart race, and I knew I had to come up with something convincing to say. But what?"
"As soon as we uttered those words, the sky transformed into a deep shade of grey, and rain started pouring down on us. The cool air caressed our skin, sending shivers down our spines. We quickly got out of the pool and made a dash for the house.
Just as we reached the door, a loud thunderclap boomed outside, making Akshara jump in the fright. She instinctively held my hand tightly, her eyes wide with fear. I could feel her trembling beside me, and my heart went out to her.
"It's okay, Akshara," I said softly, trying to reassure her. "I'm here with you. The thunder can't hurt us. We're safe inside."
But she just clung to me more tightly, her gaze fixed on the window as the rain lashed against it. I could feel her heart racing, and I knew she was really scared. I wrapped my arms around her, holding her close, and tried to distract her from the storm outside.
"Hey, look at me," I said gently, turning her face towards mine. "Let's focus on something else. Tell me something you love about me."
Akshara's eyes slowly met mine, and a small smile played on her lips, but
Akshara's eyes bore into mine, her gaze piercing through my very soul. I could feel her suspicion, her mistrust, and it killed me. "You're hiding something from me, Abhi," she said, her voice firm but laced with a hint of vulnerability. "I can feel it. Just speak, what's eating you up inside?"
My heart raced as I struggled to find the right words. I didn't want to lie to her, but I couldn't reveal the truth either. I was trapped, and Akshara's intense gaze only made it harder for me to breathe.
Just as I was about to confess, Arohi's voice interrupted us, saving me from the awkward situation. "Di, you're mistaken! Actually, he knows Neil from me, he helped me and i asked him not to say anything. "
Akshara's expression changed from suspicion to surprise, and then relief washed over her face. I felt a wave of gratitude towards Arohi for intervening at the right moment.
"Pakka na, Abhi, this is the thing, right? You're not hiding anything, right?" Akshara asked, her eyes sparkling with curiosity.
I let out a sigh of relief and smiled, feeling a weight lift off my shoulders. "Yes, my love," I replied, grateful for Arohi's timely intervention. "I'm not hiding anything."
But for now, I remained silent, unable to reveal the truth. Instead, I helped Akshara in the kitchen, watching as she expertly prepared my favorite pakodas. The aroma of crispy fried goodness filled the air, making my stomach growl with anticipation.
As the rain continued to pour outside, we three - Akshara, Arohi, and I - sat in the balcony, laughing and chatting as we savored the delicious pakodas. The sound of raindrops hitting the roof and the cool breeze on our skin only added to the cozy atmosphere.
