CLEMENTINE'S POVI ran a bit further as I turned my head to see him follow me.
"Follow me," I said.
We climbed up to the attic. He stood there as I took out the telescope I had in hiding.
"What're you doing, Clementine?" He asked.
"You're not gonna know if you just stand over there. Come on," I urged him.
He walked over to me.
"Okay, now I want you to look through the telescope," I said.
"What're my looking for?" He sighed.
"A star. Just do it, you indifferent weirdo of a friend."
He sat down and looked through the telescope. I placed my hand on his shoulder.
"What do you see?" I asked, smiling.
"It's pitch black," he replied.
"Adjust the focal length dumbass."
I stood behind him and put my two arms on his shoulders.
"Now what do you see?" I asked again.
"Stars," he replied.
"Good." I tilted the telescope to the left. "Can you see the bright blue star?"
"Yeah, what about it?"
"My dad would probably know this, but I think that's the brightest star tonight. It's probably also the farthest."
"Why are we here, Clementine?"
I squatted and placed my head on his shoulder. "You're so impatient."
"Well?"
I walked over to the left side of the attic.
"I just wanna be here, Rhys."
"Does your mom know we're here?"
"Fuck my mom, Rhys." I sighed. "Don't get me wrong, she's a wonderful woman. It's just...dad's not really around cause of work and all that. She's been a bit distant from me."
He stared at my with his beautiful ash eyes.
"Your eyes are beautiful under the moonlight, Rhys," I said.
"Let's go back downstairs," he said.
"Rhys, just stay a moment would you?" I stretched out my hand towards him. "Come."
He walked over and stood beside me.
"I just wanna talk about everything with you," I smiled.
He held the railing and looked forward. We were standing at the little veranda we had in the attic. We could see almost the whole town from where we were.
"I'm not gonna ask if you wanna hear my life plans, you'd prolly say you don't care about any of that," I glanced at him.
He was always so silent. But it felt so comfortable to talk to him.
"You know," I began, "I'd love to get high school done in a couple of years. Middle school days are so hard and annoying so hopefully they'd be over fast. Then I'd get into a really nice college and study astrology or something so I can finally grab some of my dad's undivided attention. I'd love to fall in love after that, with well..."
I turned to him.
"...I'd love to fall in love with you."
"What?" He shook.
