Ariana and I take the empty table at the school cafeteria with a single strawberry ice cream between us. It is our friendship custom that whenever we'll buy anything strawberry-flavoured, we'll share because sharing is caring.

I know, it doesn't make sense, but it doesn't have to be. BFF-ness can be weird at times. Strawberry is our mutual favourite flavour and our love.

I slip my ice cream spoon into a thick, whipped cream and fill it with a little fragment of heaven. As soon as it blends with my tongue, the sweetness and the softness spread all around inside my mouth. An unknowing, pleasuring moan escapes my mouth. This café's ice cream tastes really good.

Taking another spoonful, I roam my eyes around and catch something unusual. Spoon remains pressed between my lips.

I look at Ariana, move the spoon out and whisper, "Look, Lucas and Violet are sitting together."

She reluctantly gives a side glance to them, "Let them be." Her voice is thickened with sadness.

My brows draw together. Something is off with her. "What? You don't mind them?"

They seem to just chatter with their refreshments on the table. I can't tell they are together because they have some romance going on between them.

She leans back on her chair, "I'm thinking to get over him."

My eyes enlarge at her statement, "Why?"

"I've looked at his Facebook. He disclosed there he's going to Stanford for college. I don't want to fool myself anymore. Our high school is almost over and we all are going to go our separate ways."

She does have a point. But it has nothing to do with why she's deciding to give up.

She bites her upper lip, lowering down her gaze and not touching our ice cream at all. I pull in my sweet lips and ponder on her reasoning. "Are you sure, Ari? Because I think you shouldn't be doing this. So what if he's going to another state. People do travel around for work purposes, leaves their families behind. This can't stop them loving each other, being with each other whenever they can."

If something is meant to be, if two people love each other unconditionally then time and space can't weaken their ties. In my opinion, it is not the long distances that break off a relationship, it's just that love wasn't enough. And I think now I should make Ariana see my point of view. She should test her feelings, test Lucas if he's worthy or not.

"I don't want to take risks and get hurt in the end." She says. Mentally, I chuckle.

Hurt is another word of Love. It sounds melodramatic, but it is true. I can tell with my own experience. Hurt is unavoidable.

Our ice cream has turned into a liquid, pink cream. Ariana has totally ruined my mood and now I'm feeling forlorn too.

Here I'm trying my best to give the perfect Prom to everyone and here Ariana wants to lose her chance of being happy.

I've to think of something for my best friend. I've to plan something special for her as well. I can't make Lucas fall in love with her. I can't make their relation everlasting, but I can arrange few moments for them to be together and give Ariana something to cherish for the rest of her life.

You my precious friend will rethink your decision.

I challenge her in my mind.

I know how it feels to let go of your feelings and forget about the person you've ever loved. It is painful and heart-rending.

With these thoughts, I move my head around and again something unusual grabs for my attention.

Thinking of the devil... Blinking twice, I confirm what I'm seeing right now. Olivia, yes my other good friend Olivia is sharing a table with my asshole ex, Jayce.

They are chattering and laughing and chattering... When they both became that close to each other?

Olivia says something and that makes Jayce breaks into laughter; the kind of laugh I haven't seen on his face in a while.

Astonishment with bemusement changes my facial expressions. I didn't know Olivia was interested in being friends with Jayce. She also like him because of his singing talent, but never before she sat with him in the cafeteria all alone.

Suddenly, Violet comes to their table with a pale yellow guitar and offers it to Jayce. Jayce becomes surprised at first then shakes his head. Smile stays on his face.

Violet remains persistent and keeps the guitar in front of his face. I can't hear them, but I'm getting the clue about what Violet is insisting him for. Olivia says something to him, slaps his arm and pushes the guitar further to him.

Bewildered, I can't keep my gaze away.

After a minute, Violet announces aloud, "Everyone, Jayce is about to sing a song for us." She moves her head towards Jayce, "Come on, Jayce. We want to listen your voice.”
