Chapter Fifteen

"A... deal?" Kanato was confused. This was not how his prey usually reacted. They were supposed to scream and squirm and try to get away from him, not offer him deals. But he was curious. What could this little human girl possibly offer him?

"Kanato... I would like to get to know you"

Now Kanato was really shocked! 'I would like to get to know you'. It replayed over and over in his head like a broken record. He was trying to comprehend this. Someone. A little, human girl. Wanted to know him? His immediate conclusion was that she was lying, trying to save her skin by deceiving him. But...... there was no deception in her eyes!

"You- you, want to...... know, me?" Kanato eventually managed to stutter out.

"Yes, Kanato. I would like to make an effort to get to know you. In return..."

Oh yes, there was always a catch wasn't there? Still Kanato was interested.

'Fair enough' he thought, 'A deal often goes both ways after all'.

However, he was thinking about this all wrong, and what Yui said next, stunned him to his very core.

"In return, I will willingly give you my blood".

Kanato's jaw dropped and he gasped. There was no lie in her eyes, she was telling the truth! She really wanted to know him! She would really offer her blood to him! But what would she get in return? Both of these conditions seemed to suit him rather than her. He thought for a while. He should probably offer something in return. Protection? Maybe. Perhaps he should offer only to take blood when she was healthy enough to do so? Hmmm, that sounded fair.

"Ok. You will make an effort to get to know me. You will offer your blood willingly to me" he looked to her for confirmation, and she nodded, so he continued, "In return, I will only take your blood when you are heathy enough to do so. It's a deal".

This time it was Yui's turn to gape. She had thought of this deal specifically so Kanato felt like he had the better deal, she didn't actually expect for him to offer her something in her favour.

"Very well then, may I have some blood now?" Kanato asked.

"Oh... um, yes. You may", Yui eventually stuttered. She rolled up her sleeve to expose her wrist, but Kanato took it gently and pulled it down to her side again. He went for her neck. Yui gritted her teeth, readying herself for the pain.

Kanato was surprisingly gentle as he sank his fangs into Yui's neck, it still hurt like a bitch though.

Hot, warm blood flowed past Kanato's lips, and he sighed in pleasure. It was so sweet, thick and rich. He would have lost himself if it weren't for the gentle hand that touched his arm softly. Suddenly he remembered where he was. He coughed, clearing his throat and looked away.

"T-the deal is sealed. Y-you can't back out now", the small boy blushed slightly.

"Okey" was Yui's simple, slightly confused reply, '..... A deal with two vampires... What on earth was I thinking!? '

Haru was bored as hell. He couldn't grasp his chemistry homework for the life of him, so he was now (against his better judgement) currently exploring the manor, memorizing all the twists and turns and possible escape routes. Many of the doors were locked and those that weren't mainly led to fancy sitting rooms, studies or spare bedrooms.

Honestly, how rich were these people!

Opening another door he was startled to find Reiji sleeping in an armchair in the corner of a laboratory.....
