The moment Gerald had been waiting for was finally here. After months of separation, after countless messages and late-night video calls, Rosaline was coming back. It felt surreal to him, as if time had slowed down, each second pulling him closer to the reunion he had dreamed of every night.

He stood anxiously at the airport, his heart pounding in his chest. Every time the automatic doors slid open, his breath caught, hoping it was her stepping through. He had imagined this moment so many times, but now that it was real, the emotions swirling inside him were overwhelming—relief, excitement, fear, and an overwhelming sense of longing.

As travelers filed through the gates, Gerald’s eyes scanned the crowd. And then, he saw her. Rosaline. She looked the same, yet somehow different. Her hair was a little longer, and there was a certain tiredness in her face, but when their eyes met, all the months of separation seemed to disappear.

Gerald froze, momentarily unable to move as his emotions crashed over him. Rosaline stood there, her suitcase by her side, looking back at him with an expression that mirrored his own. Slowly, they walked toward each other, the noise of the airport fading into the background.

When they finally stood face to face, neither spoke. The weight of everything they had been through—the distance, the uncertainty, the nights spent missing each other—hung in the air between them. For a moment, it felt as if words weren’t enough to express what they felt.

And then, Rosaline stepped forward and wrapped her arms around him. The instant her body pressed against his, Gerald felt something inside him break—something that had been holding him together through all the loneliness. He closed his eyes, his arms tightening around her, afraid that if he let go, she would disappear again.

“I missed you,” Rosaline whispered against his shoulder, her voice shaky with emotion. Gerald could feel her tears against his shirt, and he had to swallow hard to keep his own from falling.

“I missed you too,” he whispered back, his voice thick. He held her closer, letting the warmth of her embrace melt away all the doubts and fears he had carried for so long. It was real. She was here.

They stayed like that for a long time, lost in each other, neither wanting to break the connection. The months apart, the heartache of distance—it all felt worth it in this moment. The world outside, the noise of the airport, the people rushing by—it all ceased to matter. It was just the two of them, together again.

When they finally pulled apart, Gerald wiped a tear from Rosaline’s cheek and smiled, though his heart still felt heavy with everything left unsaid. There was so much to talk about, so many emotions to unpack, but for now, all that mattered was that they were here, together.

Rosaline looked up at him, her eyes still filled with emotion. “It feels like I’ve been gone forever,” she said softly, her voice trembling.

Gerald nodded, swallowing the lump in his throat. “It felt like forever.”

They shared a brief laugh, but the weight of the months apart still lingered between them. Gerald knew that this was just the beginning. They had survived the distance, but now came the hard part—rebuilding what had been strained, finding their way back to each other in a way that went beyond this emotional reunion.

“I’m here now,” Rosaline said, her hand reaching for his. “And I’m not going anywhere.”

Gerald squeezed her hand, his heart lifting with her words. He didn’t know what the future held for them, but in this moment, it didn’t matter. They were together again, and that was enough.

As they walked toward the exit, hand in hand, the uncertainty of the past months began to fade, replaced by the quiet hope that maybe, just maybe, they could find their way back to each other.
