The day of the nikkah ceremony had finally arrived, and Aina's mom's business partner daughter was radiant in her white wedding dress.
Aina was sitting in the front row, beaming with happiness as the bride and groom exchanged their vows.
Kevin was sitting a few rows back, looking handsome in his formal attire, and his eyes kept drifting to Aina's bright smile.
As the ceremony progressed, Aina felt a sense of joy and celebration wash over her.
She was thrilled to see her friend so happy, and she couldn't wait to party at the reception later.
As the bride and groom were pronounced husband and wife, Aina joined in the cheers and applause,
her eyes meeting kevin's for a brief moment. As the music picked up and the reception got into full swing,
kevin made his way over to his cousin Ahaan, who was laughing and joking with a group of friends.
Kevin joined in, trying to shake off the feelings that had been building up inside him all day.
Ahaan noticed his cousin's subdued mood and raised an eyebrow. "Hey, cuz, what's up?" he asked,
but kevin just shook his head, not wanting to get into it. Ahaan nodded understandingly and handed kevin a glass of juice.
"Let's just enjoy the party, then," he said, and kevin nodded in agreement, trying to let loose and have a good time.
As Aina and Jia danced and chatted, Aina's eyes kept drifting over to Zaid, who was always by his cousin Ahaan's side.
She noticed how comfortable they seemed together, laughing and joking like they shared a private joke.
Aina felt a pang of curiosity, wondering what it was about Ahaan that drew kevin to him like that.
She mentioned it to Jia, who raised an eyebrow. "Yeah, those two are inseparable," Jia said. "
I've never seen kevin so relaxed around anyone else." Aina nodded thoughtfully,
her eyes still on kevin and Ahaan as they danced and spun to the music.
As the night wore on, Aina found herself glancing over at kevin and Ahaan more and more.
She was struck by the easy way they interacted, the way they seemed to anticipate each other's moves.
It was clear that they had a deep connection, one that went beyond just being cousins.
Aina felt a twinge of envy, wondering what it would be like to have a relationship like that with someone. She turned back to Jia,
who was watching her with a knowing look. "You're really interested in kevin , aren't you?" Jia asked,
her voice low. Aina hesitated, unsure of how to respond.
The rest of the evening passed in a blur of music, laughter, and celebration.
Aina danced with Jia, chatted with friends, and even exchanged a few pleasantries with kevin and Ahaan when they crossed paths.
But despite the festive atmosphere, Aina couldn't shake off the feeling that something was off.
She felt like she was just going through the motions, pretending to have a good time when really she was just waiting for the night to be over.
As the night wore on, Aina found herself glancing at her watch more and more often.
She was ready to call it a night, but she didn't want to leave Jia and the others without saying goodbye.
