Part 3
---
The next morning, Seugmin walked into school with a spring in his step. He couldn't stop thinking about the time he had spent with Minho the previous day. Despite the embarrassing moment, he felt a growing connection with Minho that made him hopeful forthe future. However, as he walked through the crowded hallways, he overheard a conversation that made his heart sink.
"Did you hear? Minho has a girlfriend now," one girl whispered to her friend near the lockers. "Her name's Yuna, and she's a junior. They're such a cute couple."
Seugmin felt like the ground had been pulled out from under him. A girlfriend? He hadn't seen any signs of it the previous day. His heart ached with sadness and jealousy, and he couldn't help but feel foolish for letting his hopes get so high. He tried to focus on his classes, but the news kept replaying in his mind, making it hard to concentrate.
During lunch, he sat with Emily, Alex, and Jenna, trying to mask his disappointment. "You okay, Seugmin? You seem a bit off today," Emily asked, her brow furrowed with concern.
"Yeah, I'm fine," Seugmin lied, forcing a smile. "Just a little tired, I guess."
Before Emily could press further, Minho approached their table, his usual charismatic smile in place. "Hey, Seugmin! Can I talk to you for a second?" he asked, his eyes sparkling with friendliness.
"Sure," Seugmin said, his heart pounding as he stood up and followed Minho a few steps away from the table.
"I wanted to invite you to a party at my place this weekend," Minho said, his smile widening. "It's just a small get-together with some friends. I thought it would be fun, and I'd love for you to come."
Seugmin felt a mix of emotions—excitement at the invitation and a pang of jealousy at the thought of Minho's girlfriend being there. "Uh, yeah, that sounds great," he said, trying to sound enthusiastic. "Thanks for inviting me."
"Awesome! I'll text you the details," Minho said, giving Seugmin a friendly pat on the back before heading back to his own table.
As Seugmin returned to his friends, he couldn't help but feel conflicted. He was excited to spend more time with Minho, but the news about his girlfriend weighed heavily on his mind. The rest of the day passed in a blur, and by the time he got home, he felt emotionally drained.
That evening, as he sat in his room trying to focus on homework, his phone buzzed with a text from Minho.
Minho: Hey! The party is at 7 PM on Saturday. Can't wait to see you there!
Seugmin stared at the message, his heart aching with a mix of emotions. He knew he couldn't let his feelings get in the way of their friendship, but it was hard to push aside the jealousy and sadness that gnawed at him. He took a deep breath and typed a reply.
Seugmin: Thanks, Minho. I'll be there. Looking forward to it!
Saturday arrived quickly, and Seugmin found himself standing outside Minho's house, his nerves on edge. He took a deep breath and rang the doorbell. The door swung open almost immediately, and Minho greeted him with a wide smile.
"Seugmin! Glad you could make it," Minho said, pulling him into a quick hug. "Come on in."
Seugmin stepped inside, the sound of music and laughter filling the air. The living room was packed with people, and he recognized a few faces from school. As they made their way through the crowd, Seugmin couldn't help but notice a girl with long, dark hair and abright smile standing near the kitchen. She was talking animatedly with a group of friends, and Seugmin felt a pang of jealousy when he realized it was Yuna, Minho's girlfriend.
Minho led him to a quieter corner of the room, where they could talk without shouting over the music. "Help yourself to any snacks or drinks," Minho said, gesturing to a table laden with food and beverages. "Make yourself at home."
"Thanks," Seugmin said, trying to keep his voice steady. "This place is great."
As the evening went on, Seugmin found himself having a surprisingly good time. He chatted with some of Minho's friends, played a few party games, and even managed to relax a little. However, every time he saw Minho and Yuna together, his heart ached with jealousy.
At one point, Minho found him standing alone by the snack table, looking a bit lost. "Hey, you doing okay?" Minho asked, his eyes full of concern.
"Yeah, I'm fine," Seugmin said, forcing a smile. "Just taking a breather."
Minho nodded, his expression softening. "I'm really glad you came. I was hoping we could hang out more outside of school."
"Me too," Seugmin said, his heart fluttering despite his jealousy.
Just then, Yuna approached them, her smile bright and genuine. "Hey, Minho, we're starting a game of charades. You in?" she asked, her eyes flicking to Seugmin with curiosity.
"Sure, sounds fun," Minho said, turning to Seugmin. "You want to join us?""Uh, yeah, why not," Seugmin said, trying to keep his tone light.
As they joined the group for charades, Seugmin couldn't help but feel a mix of emotions. He was grateful for Minho's friendship and the fun they were having, but the sight of Minho and Yuna together was a constant reminder of what he couldn't have.
The game went on, filled with laughter and playful banter. Seugmin found himself genuinely enjoying the moment, even as his heart ached with unspoken feelings. When the party finally began to wind down, Minho walked him to the door, their conversation quiet and intimate.
"Thanks for coming, Seugmin. It meant a lot to me," Minho said, his eyes sincere.
"Thanks for inviting me," Seugmin replied, his voice soft. "I had a great time."
As he walked home, Seugmin couldn't help but feel a sense of bittersweet longing. He cherished the moments he spent with Minho, but the knowledge of Minho's relationship with Yuna cast a shadow over his happiness. He knew he had to find a way to navigate his feelings and focus on the friendship that was growing between them.
Back in his room, Seugmin lay on his bed, staring at the ceiling. He replayed the events of the evening in his mind, savoring the moments of connection and camaraderie. He knew that his feelings for Minho wouldn't disappear overnight, but he was determined to find a way to be a good friend and support Minho, even if it meant putting his own emotions aside.
As he drifted off to sleep, Seugmin made a silent promise to himself: he would cherish the friendship he had with Minho and find a way to navigate his feelings with grace. After all, true friendship was worth the effort, and he wasn't willing to let his unspoken emotions get in the way of something so special.
