Did You Notice

Professor Stein was a lot of things but distracted wasn't one of them.

Soul raised a brow as he peaked around the corner, Blackstar mean mugging him from behind, sulking as he's forced to be quiet with Souls hand on his mouth.

His eyes narrow at the way Spirit seems to fidget, face set in an embarrassed and almost flustered expression as he speaks to whoever it is in the doorway of the literature classroom. But it's Stein that holds his attention by the way the professor positions his body, lax but attentive towards the person Soul could not see.

Not in a way where he's analyzing his next dissection but an eye of interest.

Soul may be an idiot but he wasn't stupid.

The look just wasn't... Stein like?

"If you need anything at all, don't hesitate to ask!" Spirit rubs his hands together and Soul cringes. "Good ole Spirit will help in anyway he can."

Soul snorted.

Dull geen eyes land on his person causing him to flinch back into Blackstar who caught him with a surprised exclamation that made Soul panic and swiftly attempt to shut him up, shaking him back and forth and whispering for him to shut up. But they both freeze when they feel an ominous present behind him, eyes drilling into their backs and their faces turned ghost white. Slowly they turn in sync towards the eyes staring down at them.

It's Stein and the mystery person that stand side by side, staring at them. One in exasperation and the other in clear amusement, Spirit stood behind them with a raised brow and prominent frown at the sight of Soul.

"Skipping class." Came the slow drawl of Professor Stein. "Ah well I suppose nows as good a time as ever for introductions."

Soul and Blackstar both let out relieved sighs.

"We'll discuss matters of detention afterwards," they collectively shattered.

The stranger puts their hands on their knees and leans down in a crouch in front of the two, smiling with glimmering gold eyes. "Nice to meet you, I'll be your literature teacher from this point on, Rouge. Please take care of me." The man beams and Soul and Blackstar both squint at the brightness of it.

"Are you an angel?" Came Blackstar's awed voice much to Rouge's entertainment.

Both him and soul were yanked by their collar and began to be dragged off by none other than Spirit who called cheerfully back to Rouge, "Don't go to far! There's still lots to show you," a giggle that made Stein sigh and the two students in Spirits grasp noticeably cringe. "As for you two," his voice got dangerously low, "You're in trouble now."

The words flew right over Soul as he locked eyes with their supposed new teacher, who still remained bent at the waist, watching them get dragged off. His eyes flickered to Stein then, noticing the man not paying the ruckus a single thought, his own eyes locked on the blonde man.

'No way...' his crestfallen expression turned into a devious grin. 'He's totally interested!'

"Maka's not gonna believe it!" He ends up saying out loud.

Spirit whirls in on him not a second later, pulling and tugging at his face while leaving Blackstar face planted on the ground a few feet away.

"What did you say about my precious Maka! She's to good for the likes of some idiot like you!"

"Get off me you old geezer!"

Down the hall, Ominus laughs lightly and turns to Stein who doesn't bother acting like he hadn't been staring.

"I think I'm going to enjoy my time here."

Stein hums, eyes trailing up and down the curves of Ominus before shrugging. "We'll see."

Ominus straightens, "Well..." he clasps his hands behind his back. "Aren't you gonna show me around?"

A smile quirks at Steins lips, "Not gonna wait for Spirit?"

"I'm sure he'll survive."

"Then right this way, we'll start on the east side."

"Alright then."
