"Al washes a car in six minutes" Mr. feeny started the lesson, "Fred washes the same car in eight minutes, how long will it take Al and Fred to wash the car together?"

"Piece of cake" Cory said with confidence

"Think about it, Mr. Matthews."

"I don't have to think about it, Mr. Feeny. It's simple." Cory said while shrugging

"You say that now until you get the answer wrong and look like an idiot for the millionth time" Taylor said nonchalantly while looking at her nails

"Rude." Cory frowned

"It it anything but simple Mr. Matthews" Mr. Feeny informed him

"But I have the answer."

"I'm not interested in the answer. I'm more interested in how you arrived at the answer. And you couldn't possibly have arrived so rapidly."

"But I did. I've arrived. I'm here. Ahead of you"

"Oh, well then if you're ahead of me, what is the answer."

"Seven" They said simultaneously

"That's not the correct answer" Mr. Feeny told him

"And "the slowest person alive" award goes to Cory Matthew's" Austin started clapping sarcastically

"But it has to be" Cory exclaimed, "Al speeds Fred uo, Fred slows Al down. So the answer is halfway between six and eight. Seven."

"That is not the correct answer." Mr. Feeny and Cory said in unison again

"But it has to be!"

"Oh my god if you say that one more time, my head might explode" Taylor rubbed her fingers over her forehead

Shawn reached over and pats her head

"No it doesn't" Stuart jumped up from his desk and stood in front of Cory

"Why not?" Cory replied while rolling his eyes

"Fred can't slow Al down. Even if Al washes most of the car and Fred just washes the hubcap. The total time still has to be faster than Al's time alone. You with me? So if Fred is 25% slower than Al, then 25% of 6 minutes is....Anybody? It's a minute and a half which leaves us with four point five, four and a half minutes is the correct answer. Hold your applause, please"
