The sound of lockers slamming shut echoed through the locker room as Y/N changed into her gym clothes, her thoughts elsewhere. It had been a few days since she last spoke to Nagi, and the more she thought about it, the more embarrassed she felt. The realization that she had taken a sip from his drink—a moment that now felt like an indirect kiss—had her avoiding him entirely.
She sighed, pulling on her gym shoes and tying the laces a little too tightly, her mind still replaying that scene over and over again.
Why did I even do that?
Shaking her head, she stood up and joined the rest of her classmates as they filed out onto the field for gym class. The warm sunlight hit her face as she stepped outside, but instead of enjoying the weather, she felt a knot of nervousness forming in her stomach.
It's not like he even cares... but still...
She followed the other students, trying to push the thoughts away, hoping the physical activity of gym class would help clear her mind.
Her luck seemed to be her worst enemy today. As soon as she stepped onto the field, Y/N made eye contact with Nagi. His white hair stood out in the crowd of soccer players as he paused, his gaze meeting hers for just a second. Then, as if nothing had happened, he turned back to his practice when Reo called him, running after the ball again.
A wave of nervousness hit her, making her chest tighten. She tried to take a deep breath to calm herself down, but her thoughts raced.
"Chill out... he probably doesn't remember me,"
she reassured herself, though the memory of their last interaction still clung to her like an embarrassing shadow.
Turning away from the soccer field, Y/N tried to focus on her Gym teacher, who was explaining the basics of yoga to the class. She could feel her heart still beating faster than usual, but she forced herself to concentrate on the instructions. Maybe stretching and focusing on her breathing would help her clear her mind.
After what felt like hours of listening to the teacher's instructions, the class finally started jogging around the field. Y/N groaned internally when she noticed that the soccer team was also doing their cool-down jog. She immediately made a mental note to stay far away from Nagi. The last thing she needed was another awkward encounter.
As she jogged, her mind wandered, planning an escape route to avoid him once the class was over. Deep in thought, she didn't even notice when someone slowed their pace to match hers.
"Hey, L/N..."
The familiar, sleepy voice snapped her out of her thoughts. Her heart nearly skipped a beat as she turned her head, only to see Nagi casually jogging beside her. He looked as unbothered as ever, his gaze half-lidded as if he might fall asleep mid-jog.
Y/N froze for a second, stumbling over her words.
"Oh... uh, hey..."
She forced a smile, internally panicking at how casual he was acting.
"I wanna eat your bento... after this,"
Nagi said, as if it were the most natural thing in the world. He looked at her thoughtfully for a moment before adding,
"You haven't been talking to me, so I thought I'd come up to you."
Y/N's eye twitched slightly in frustration.
He didn't even ask if he could eat my bento,
