"Dae said that he can't come in today since he's sick. Ugh, I hope he gets better soon!"My best friend, Paris, had been talking to me about... something. I forget.
My attention, unsurprisingly, was on him.
The way that his luscious black hair looked a golden brown in the sun. The way that his long lashes fluttered as he blinked (as well as the butterflies in my stomach). The way that his deep brown eyes shone against the sun's rays.
Then, she walked up to him.
An undeniably pretty girl who had beautiful brown hair cascading down her shoulders and gorgeous green eyes that shone in the sun along with his. Together, they looked like a perfect painting of two lovers. She greeted him with a warm smile and started talking, and so did he.
Eventually, they went inside, where I couldn't see them, and I snapped back to reality.
Paris was looking at me expectantly, waiting for me to say or do something.
Since I hadn't been listening, I had no idea what I should've said to her. So, I just laughed nervously and said, "That's so funny!"By her expression, I could tell that she didn't buy it. Not for one second.
"Seriously, Jayda? I've literally been telling you that my boyfriend is unwell, and all you can do is stare at him."I knew that there was no point in denying it, so I apologised to her before complimenting her shoes, hoping she'd forget about it.
She didn't look impressed with my attempt to gloss over it.
"I'm being serious here. You need to get over him."I knew that she was right, but it wasn't that easy, especially with him. She relented, and we headed inside, through the same doors as he had gone through.
"Hi Jayda!"
"Heyyyy Jaydaaaa!"
"Hey, how are you?"As we walked through the halls, I was bombarded by hi's from numerous people, as per usual. I didn't really mind, though. It was nice. It may sound sort of self-centered and pick-me-ish to say this, but I liked the attention. I felt like people cared.
It almost filled the void left by him.
Just almost, though.
Words couldn't describe how much I missed him, how much I craved for his attention. No one could comprehend how deeply I felt how him. I would give so much to receive so much as a "hi" from him. Even though so many people would say that very word to me day after day, it could never amount to just one of his flawless smiles. Those full lips. Those perfectly white teeth. Those--
Suddenly, I felt my face smash into something hard enough to be a brick wall. I stumbled back in shock, confused at how I had ended up here, with my face stuffed into someone's back.
As I took a step back, the person turned around.
It was none other than him.
