Logan had aged. She hadn't seen him in a year, but this was more than that. This was like time had taken the man in front of her and run him ragged. Where the hell had Temporus sent her? Maybe a better question was when the hell had he sent her?
"You know this man?" Doc finally spoke up.
"Kind of. It's, uh, it's been a long time since I've seen him. His name is Logan."
"He's a mutant like you."
"Yes. He's a lot like me. But his mutation doesn't seem to be working very well. If I had to guess, I'd say he's in the late stages of Adamantium poisoning. I can heal him a bit, but healing that would be like suicide. I can't take that. If I healed him completely, I'd be dead in minutes. All I can do right now is heal his external wounds. That should help him wake up quicker."
"We'll give you some privacy. I'll be back with ya'llafterwards. Young lady, why don't we get you out to the waiting room." He ushered out the reluctant girl and closed the door, leaving Hera alone with Logan.
She pulled a chair beside him and took a seat. She took her glove off and set it to the side, then gently grabbed his hand. "How the hell did we end up here?" She asked herself, running her thumb over his hand. His pain was intense, but she took it without complaint as his wounds healed. She could feel a deep ache all over her body, even after she stopped healing him. Hera could only wonder if he felt this much pain every day. If she could even take a fraction of it, she'd be happy. At least he wouldn't be in so much misery.
She laid her head down on her arm, her hand still clutched to his. That's how Doc found her when he came in twenty minutes later.
"You alright?" He asked.
Hera looked up with a small smile and nodded. "Yeah. I think I am. He's healed up as I can get him. And I'm not lost anymore."
"You said it's been a while since you saw him. You think he'll remember you?"
"No. No I don't. But it's okay. I'll just remind him."
"You should go talk with that little girl out there. She's been chomping at the bit to come in."
"I'll go check on her. Give her an update." Hera stood, reluctantly letting go of Logans hand and putting her glove back on. She slid into the waiting room amd took the seat beside the girl.
"Mi nombre es Hera. ¿Cuál es el tuyo?" She asked softly, looking over at the girl.
"Laura."
"Laura. ¿Hablas inglés?"
"Sí."
"Alright. Laura, Logan is better now. I've healed his wounds the best I can. It's up to him to wake up now."
"How do you know him?"
"I knew another version of Logan a long time ago. Speaking of -- what year is it?"
"2029."
"Holy hell."
"Hera?"
"Yeah? Are you an Xman?"
"Yeah, I guess I am."
"Will you help me?"
"With what?"
"Getting to my family. The other kids I was with. We're meeting somewhere safe and going to Eden."
"Eden?"
"Somewhere mutants will be safe."
"I think we need to talk about just how you two ended up here in the first place."
