Song: Those Eyes - New West
Juliette's POV
"Flynn, I remember when you were younger," Brian sighed. "You knew when your mother was pregnant with Sage, even before we did. You hugged her a lot and did stuff for her, almost as if you sensed it."
I heard Flynn and his dad talking from the stairs and wanted to listen in. I didn't want to eavesdrop but it was so rare to see a wholesome moment from Flynn and his dad. I really wanted to hear it.
"Why are you telling me this?" Flynn questioned.
"Because I know you think you're bad at reading people and that's partially my fault for letting you believe it," Brian admitted. "But you're better at reading people than you think. It's important to know what people are thinking in this line of work. You're right; you're not just a soldier. You're the boss now and you're my son. I owe it to you to prepare you."
"You have prepared me," Flynn sighed. "You wouldn't have given me the job if I wasn't prepared."
"I just want you to be careful. Make sure you consult Juliette. That girl is smart," Brian laughed. "She fixed my computer the other day. I thought I'd have to buy a new one."
A smile spreads across my face at the compliment.
"Make sure that you don't make decisions without her," Brian told him.
"Of course not. There's a reason that she's going with me. She has a very bright mind," Flynn said.
My face flushed at the way Flynn spoke about me. He sounded so genuine and kind. Like he cared about me.

Later on, Flynn, Niall, and I arrived at Flynn's club. There were a lot of people there. All of them were obviously in the mafia and looked equally intimidating. However, I could tell by how they looked at my husband that none of them would dare lay a hand on me.
We socialized in the meeting place with Valentin, Aria, Alexei, and Sergei.
Flynn leaned in and whispered in my ear, "You're extremely beautiful. You know that?"
I wore the new black dress that Flynn got me and black heels that made me look way taller than I actually was. The butterfly bracelet that Flynn gave me at our wedding donned my wrist. I got my nails and eyelashes done.
I was feeling pretty. I didn't need Flynn to tell me that I was beautiful, but that didn't stop the blush from creeping up my face.
"Thank you, handsome," I smiled.
A conversation was happening around us, but all I could seem to focus on was Flynn. I watched my family talk and even Niall added in occasionally.
All I heard were the words that Flynn said. I only felt his hands in mine while I stood in front of him.
When Anthony, Riley, and Alejandro Delgado walked in, we greeted them as friends. It was important that we were nice to them; they could easily start a war with us.
Riley Delgado was an interesting character, who greeted me with a fake smile and a small, pathetic handshake. She was a tall woman with long blonde hair.
I exchanged looks with Aria. I could tell that neither of us liked her.
Anthony Delgado was clearly a self-centered prick. He wore all gold jewelry, including multiple rings that, combined, probably cost as much as a Corvette convertible. I could tell that his ego was as fragile as glass and his personality was as intolerable as the chirp of a smoke alarm. He was the oldest man in the room, already balding with a head greasier than a skillet after cooking bacon.
