JUNGWON
I finally got back to my apartment, utterly exhausted from the day. The moment I walked through the door, I heard the familiar sound of tiny paws rushing toward me. As soon as I saw Maeumi, my white Maltese, bounding over with her tail wagging like crazy, a small smile tugged at my lips. No matter how rough the day had been, coming home to her always made things a little better.
"Maeumi," I murmured, kneeling down to scoop her into my arms. She licked my face, her tiny body practically vibrating with excitement. Maeumi wasn't just my pet—she was family, my anchor in all the chaos.
As I held her close, my thoughts drifted back to the night we first met. It was one of those moments that sticks with you, changing everything.
It had been a cold, rainy evening, and I was buried in textbooks at a study cafe, trying to focus on my work. The rain against the windows was almost calming, but then I noticed something outside—a small, shivering dog huddled under a bench, soaked to the bone.
At first, I tried to ignore it. I had assignments to finish, and I figured someone else would help the poor thing. But as time passed, I couldn't stop thinking about that little dog, cold and alone out there in the rain. My heart ached just thinking about it.
Eventually, I couldn't take it anymore. I grabbed my umbrella and rushed outside. There she was, still trembling under the bench. Without hesitation, I scooped her up, wrapping her in my jacket to keep her warm. When she looked up at me with those wide, trusting eyes, I knew I couldn't leave her behind.
I brought her home that night, dried her off, and fed her. From that moment on, Maeumi became my constant companion, offering me comfort and unconditional love through everything life threw my way.
Now, as she snuggled into my lap, I couldn't help but feel grateful for that rainy night. No matter how tough work gets, coming home to Maeumi always makes it worth it. After taking a few moments to unwind with Maeumi snuggled in my lap, I gently set her down on the floor.
"Alright, Maeumi," I said with a smile, "let's get you something special for dinner."
I made my way into the kitchen, my exhaustion momentarily forgotten as I focused on preparing something exquisite for Maeumi. She deserved the best, and tonight, I decided to make her favorite—a gourmet meal that would make any dog envious.
I started by selecting the freshest ingredients I had. Organic chicken breast, finely chopped carrots, and a handful of spinach. As I cooked, I couldn't help but think about the nutritional value behind each choice. The chicken breast, high in lean protein, was perfect for keeping Maeumi's muscles strong and her energy levels up. It was also a great source of essential amino acids, which support her immune system and overall health.
While the chicken simmered, I steamed the vegetables. The finely chopped carrots were packed with beta-carotene, crucial for maintaining good eyesight, and they provided a nice crunch that Maeumi always enjoyed. Spinach, on the other hand, was full of vitamins—rich in iron, vitamin C, and antioxidants. It helped keep her coat shiny and her digestion in check.
I carefully balanced each ingredient, ensuring that this meal wasn't just tasty but also provided her with the right nutrients to keep her healthy and happy. After all, as her nutritionist—and her human—I knew how important it was to give her food that would nourish her body as much as it delighted her taste buds.
As I plated the food, I couldn't help but chuckle at how much care I was putting into Maeumi's meal. But she was worth every bit of effort. I finished it off with a drizzle of olive oil and a sprinkle of parsley for added flavor.
