Training day

Tá mé tuirseach den daid seo" I complain (I'm tired of this dad)
"Táimid tar éis a bheith ag seilg ar feadh 4 uair an chloig, tá mé leamh." (We've been hunting for 4 hours, I'm bored) I've been training for as long as i can remember, from Wednesday to Friday my da, brother, sister and I go to Goonga Creek in Queensland, it's a big forest where we pitch tents while we are here for training in driving, hunting, shooting, archery and survival (we don't do it all in the 3 days and I don't get to drive yet, but I get to ride horses and my peewee 50 motorbike), I had already completed today's assignment making a surveillance platform up a 50 foot tree, the trick was I had to do it undetected with things in the forest, so no hammer and nail because they are loud, then I had to shoot 2 targets using noise suppressor on my Savage Axis rifle, there are 3 score markings on the target, bullseye is 50 points, then 20 points outer ring is 10 points and 5 points if you hit the side paper, I get 5 bullets for each target. For the easy target I got 2-5 points, 2-10 points and 1-20 point, 50 points total, I'm getting better. The second target is a lot harder because it's hidden in a bush so visual is bad and I only got 3-5 pointers, I was so disappointed, but my da said I'm doing well for someone who has only been shooting for a month, it took 3 hours from build to removing all trace that I was there, that's when we hunted on foot for deer and kangaroo for my party. You're probably wondering why this is my school work, well that's simple, I'm gonna be an assassin when I grow up, the company that we train for hunts bad people, like gangs and people who sell or murder other people and sell drugs because it's not like the government can do anything, they just put them in jail for a couple of years then let them out to do it again, so we help out and stop them permanently.
Ma used to come with us sometimes even though she is a teacher, but she is at home with my 2 year old baby brother, who is really annoying by the way, and she is getting stuff ready for my party. I want to go home because my 3 best friends are coming this weekend for my 7th birthday party and I can't wait, one of my best friends, Keegan and his family come all the way from Dublin for every birthday, Easter AND Christmas, they visit often because my sister Sadhbh (Sigh-ve) is geallta (betrothed) to Cormac and I'm geallta (betrothed) to Keegan, whatever that means, I don't care, I get to spend the whole weekend with Keegan, my other best friend is Jedda, she live close to our house in Mount Coot-tha, she comes to our house on Monday and Tuesdays for either the school bus or home schooling, I wish she came with us to Goona Creek, but da says she has other schooling to do. Lastly is Mary, she is in my class at school and online, she is really smart and so small, even for a 7 year old, they think she is gonna be a hacker cause she is top of our class with computers and english, she even helps me with my homework and I help her with science and physical training cause I'm the top of those classes, it's a win win for friendship.

"Ceart go leor leanbh, ach seo uair amháin" (Alright baby, but only this once) my da says, what a silly, he says that every celebration, I think he just waited till one of us gets to impatient and lets us call it, cause he says no any other time. Da gets his walkie talkie out to call my siblings in, supposedly I'm still to young to go solo in the forest, my sister is 9, she still needs to be closer so da can hear her yell and my brother is 12, he not only gets his own walkie talkie, but a cool as flare gun for if he gets in trouble.

We meet back at our base camp to pack up and head home, before we leave, da texts ma that we are on our way home, a 2 and 1/2 hour drive, so we should be home for dinner, ma texts back to say the McDevitt family arrived last night and Keegan is driving her nuts asking for me, we all laugh at that, he is a really silly boy.

As soon as we pull up, I'm out the car and running to the house to see the front door fly open. "Mo mhac tire" (my wolf) I yelled to Keegan at the same time he yells "Tine Beag" (little fire). We collide in a hug that knocks us off our feet laughing. I can't remember when the nicknames stared or why, but it's our thing, everyone surrounds us laughing "Shílfeá go raibh siad pósta cheana féin ar an mbealach is fearr leo a chéile i gcónaí." (you'd think they were already married the way they alway great each other) Uncle Kraeg (Craig) says with his belly laugh.
"Eeeewwwwww I'm not marrying her/him" we say at the same time which makes them laugh more. "Alright kids, go unpack your stuff from the car, dinner will be ready in 1 hour, move out" comes my ma's stern voice, she seems to be the only one not still laughing at us as my Aunt Tara and ma head inside to cook dinner.
"Come on Tine Beag (little fire), I'll help ya" Keegan says as he gets up and holds his hand out to me to help me up.Once the car was unpacked and my clothes put away because we learn to wash our clothes while away as part of our survival training, we have dinner and catch up, It's so good to have my second family with me. After dinner we kids clean up the kitchen and just in time as Jedda and Mary turn up, so we all head off to play on the Xbox and playstation while the adult do whatever it is they do. Us kids are crashing in the games room so Uncle Kraeg and Aunt Tara can sleep in my room, I have a queen size bed that I share with Jedda for school while her parents are away, or with Keegan when he visits and that's when I have the best Sleep eva!!!!!!
