The night I left Amerson, the moon hung low in the sky like a silver crescent wound, its pale light casting long, dancing shadows across the deserted streets. A shiver ran down my spine as I gazed out at the familiar landscape, the houses and trees silhouetted against the moon's ethereal glow, their shapes twisted and writhed like living things.
I thought I was escaping the shadows that haunted me, the ones that crept into my dreams and whispered cruel truths in my ear. But the truth was, I was only running from the light. The light that revealed the scars I'd been trying to hide, the ones etched into my heart and soul like the lines on a well-worn map.
Little did I know, the darkness I'd been fleeing would be waiting for me in the most unexpected place – my future. It would seep into the cracks of my new life, spreading its tendrils like a slow-moving stain. And I would be forced to confront the truth I'd been trying to outrun: that the scars I'd been trying to mend were only the beginning.
