- Senku –
« OARASHI'S DEAD! SO, WE TOOK THIS CHILD! AN EYE FOR AN EYE, A LIFE FOR A LIFE! »
At the bottom of the abyss, could things get any worse?
As Ibara roared, safe in his Palace heights, Dante watching the scene beside him, Senku thought he'd hit rock bottom, when Ryusui swore.
« Damn it! »
Turning to their friends who'd stayed behind, he then saw Soyuz on the ground, knocked out by one of Kirisame's darts, who was now fighting Kohaku, proving she'd never been on their side. He still couldn't believe how the Petrifying Kingdom's elites had manipulated them, when Gen's cries pushed him forward, like a broken automaton.
Released by Akumu, the mentalist had rushed towards the pulverized statue, desperately trying to gather pieces, clawing at the dirt with heartbreaking sobs. Devastated, Senku rushed to him, unable to see him in such a state. Lost in pain, Gen screamed at his touch and fought back like a wounded animal, clutching the pieces to protect them from the whole world.
The scientist was trembling, no words coming out of his mouth, so stunned and shattered he was, when Gen turned to him, deep blue eyes fluttering with tears, as he finally recognized him. At once, the magician wanted to show him what was left of the boy, but his shaking body gave way and he collapsed into his arms, while above them, Ibara berated his servant.
« AKUMU YOU PIECE OF SHIT! GET BACK HERE NOW! » He roared, but the latter refused to obey.
« I... I would no longer serve someone who sacrificed a child for revenge! » He cried out in disgust, even though he was shaking like a leaf. « You'll be damned for this! »
Amid this tumult, as Mozu and Kirisame climbed back to the Palace -Kohaku, bruised, looking after Soyuz- the scientist detached himself from Gen's inert body, entrusting him to the blond reluctantly.
« Ryusui... » His broken voice grew firm. « Take care of Gen... I will pick up the pieces, and... »
« Senku, it's... »
But he silenced the Perseus captain.
He wasn't going to sit back and watch his world crumble. So, ignoring Ibara's victorious ranting, he tried to collect every possible fragment, while Akumu's bandaged hands joined his.
Unsurprisingly, the spectacle made the old man burst into laughter.
A cold, disdainful laugh that made Senku's blood boil, but under the circumstances, he could do nothing.
« LISTEN TO ME, ISHIGAMI SENKU! AND TELL YOUR FRIEND SOYUZ! THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU TRY TO DESTROY WHAT I'VE BUILT! YOU WILL HAVE NEITHER MY KINGDOM NOR MY DIVINE WEAPON! » He bellowed like an enraged lion. « OUR PROPHET CAN SEE THROUGH YOUR PLANS, AND WE DEFEATED YOU! IT'S OVER NOW! »
But Senku turned a deaf ear.
This madman could say what he wanted, he had other priorities.
Return to the ship.
Bring Secret back to life.
Make Gen smile again.
Relive.
As he stood up, pockets and hands full of pieces, Senku cast one last look at those responsible for his pain, while the Prophet suddenly pointed at something, a strange gesture he ignored, since his body seemed on the verge of collapse.
Then, Ibara chased them away, like shaking dust off his shoes.
« GET BACK ON YOUR SHIP AND GET LOST! » Besides, he added to his former servant. « IF I SEE YOUR DAMN FACE AGAIN, I'LL SKIN YOU ALIVE! »
